Introduction to the Ratana Sutta

“Let me ask you something, Baba.” “Isn’t one too few? Ask me.” “In the 11th sutta, the auspicious sutta begins.” “Of course.” “After the auspicious sutta, Baba, after the auspicious sutta, the ratana sutta, then the metta sutta.”

"Okay, yes, what's up with the love?"

"Love is a gift, oh, oh"

Maung Hla Aye suddenly couldn't continue and kept repeating, "I'm done with love," which made me smile.

"Love and body"

"I can't remember the schedule, Dad," he said, embarrassed.

“It’s usually like this, people don’t memorize all 11 verses in order. To remember them, you have to memorize the preik gatha and lanka written by the 9th monk of Myingyan.”

“So teach me, Dad.”

"Auspicious, auspicious, and loving,

Khanda, Maura, Vat, Dhazam.

Atanatiya, English,

"Bhojjanga, the Buddha's Sutta"

Tolas, Pali

The mantra is composed, eleven stanzas.

Four-eight-ten,

The surrounding area is surrounded by the surrounding area,

To prevent the sides from entering,

To the wall

Well sealed, because of that sign

"The law of the "Preet", the special title of the army"

"If you have read that, you will all remember it. Not only that, but you will also know why it is called "Prait". It is in it, "The four-eight-ten, the four-sided, the eight-sided, the ten-sided

Maung Hla Aye was happily writing in his notebook. When he finished, he continued talking.

“Baba wrote the Mettā Sutta first.” “Oh…” “Then he wrote the Mettā Sutta and then the Mangala Sutta, right?” “Well… I understand what you mean. According to the Preit Gyi tradition, the Mangala Sutta should be written first, then the Mangala Sutta, then the Ratana Sutta, then the Ratana Sutta, now Baba wrote the Mettā Sutta first, then the Mangala Sutta, why is that? Don’t you want to ask?” “Yes, Baba, that’s what I started talking about.” “Yes…yes, that’s what I’m going to say. That’s not what I meant, like “Preit Gyi always did,” but I wrote it because I was reflecting on the ‘basic moral principles’ that must be acquired before sending love. To be honest, sending love is like saying, ‘Sabvesatta Aveya Honda.’ I thought that was enough. And it is true that I recited the Pali words "Karaniya matthaka kusalena" at the beginning of the Mettā Sutta, thinking of them as mantras for worshipping the Buddha as much as they were for the sake of the Buddha.

One day, while I was having a conversation with Saya U Saw Maung from Kyauktan about loving-kindness meditation on Mount Kyokkamo, he hinted that in order to send love to many beings, one must first fulfill all the ‘pathipadha’ (conditions) and the power to send love to oneself, so that one’s love can be sharp and sharp.

It was then that I realized and began to ponder the “Metta Sutta” verse by verse, and to analyze it deeply. After that, I wrote discussions based on everything I had read, remembered, and heard, so that young people could understand as much as I knew.

That's why I wrote the Mettā Sutta first. Then, I was urged to write the “Mangala Sutta” so that the young people of today can understand it. Both of these suttas describe human ethics, morals, and mental ethics. Anyone who practices them should have a worldly,

"They will certainly gain material benefits. It is also scientifically sound, and even great experts will admit it."

"Yes, Father, what about the Ratana Sutta?"

“The Ratana Sutta is one of them. It describes the three jewels: “The jewel of the Buddha, the jewel of the Dhamma, and the jewel of the Sangha.” It is a true statement. “This true statement is

"May all beings be happy in body and mind." There is also a saying that simply saying the truth is not enough to make it true. "There is a saying that says, 'Speak the truth,' right?"

“Yes, but how true is what we say? How strongly do we believe it is true? That is the most important thing. As Buddhists, how do you understand the Three Jewels, how much do you accept them, how much do you like them? Let’s think about that. Now… what does ‘jewel’ mean? You tell me.”

"I've heard that 'jewelry' is something that everyone loves and cherishes, Dad."

“Oh, okay, generally speaking, there are two types of ‘jewelry’: living and non-living, you know. Living things include elephants, horses, and children. Inanimate things include gold, silver, diamonds, stones, buildings, and so on, right?”

“Yes, Father.” “Now.. Out of all the other living and non-living treasures, the Buddha Jewel, the Dharma Jewel, and the Sangha Jewel are the three treasures that are most beloved, most cherished, most beneficial, and most incomparable to us.” Have you ever believed in them, accepted them, and believed them deeply? The first step is to believe in the three treasures, and then you can believe in the merits of those three treasures. Only by believing in them and reciting them will you be speaking the “true truth.” Only by speaking the “true truth” will you be happy as you wish, “May all beings be happy,” as the Buddha said.
