Opening statement
Accumulation for a business.
If you've ever flown through a small airport or traveled extensively within the United States, you've probably flown in, or seen, a Lear Jet. I've flown in one twice. It's a memorable experience. They're small, they can only hold five or six passengers. But they're very fast. Riding in one of those planes is like being stuck in a small tube attached to a jet engine.
To be honest, flying is both exciting and fun. But what’s even more enjoyable is that you can get to your destination in a shorter amount of time, which gives you more time to work. I’ve traveled a lot of miles by air. I’ve experienced driving to a far-off airport, renting a car from that airport, flying on a plane, and waiting in line for a long time because of the crowds. It’s not unusual for me to be flying. Well, let’s just say it’s a dream. The flight time of a Learjet is half the time of any other airline.
The inventor of the Learjet was a man named Bill Lear. He was a three-time inventor, pilot, and businessman. Mr. Lear held over 150 patents for his inventions, including the automatic control system, the car radio, and the EightTrackTape. (You can’t outdo him.) He was a man of great imagination. Around 1950, Mr. Lear had the idea of building a small, powerful airplane. But it took him several years to realize his idea. In 1963, Mr. Lear successfully flew his first test flight. In 1964, he began selling his first airplane. From then on, Mr. Lear’s success continued. Within a few years, he was producing and selling dozens of airplanes. Soon after his business took off, two of his planes suddenly crashed due to an unexplained malfunction. The news deeply affected Leah. At that time, there were 55 customers who bought and used Leah's small planes. Leah quickly contacted those people and asked them to "suspend the flights until he and his engineers could investigate the crash and determine the cause of the problem." Leah was not particularly bothered by the media's criticism of his planes, but he did so because he didn't want to lose any precious lives unnecessarily. He valued human life more than his reputation.
Leah and his team conducted a detailed examination of the two crashed planes. They found a defect that they believed was the main cause of the crashes. However, it was not possible to test it on the ground, but only by flying it in the air. Leah flew the plane himself, without anyone else.
In fact, it was dangerous to do so. But Leah did it bravely. The plane Leah was testing developed a defect that had plagued previous aircraft. But Leah, after trying various methods, discovered the main flaw. He himself narrowly escaped death. After that, Leah and his team replaced the defective part with a better one in all the planes he produced, so that all aircraft owners could use it safely and confidently.
Mr. Lear was forced to pay the money that would have been earned if the 55 planes had been grounded. This took a toll on his finances. At the same time, it also raised suspicions among those who had bought and used his planes and those who had offered to buy them. As a result, Lear spent two years trying to rebuild his business. But Lear has no regrets about the decision he made. He is willing to sacrifice his wealth, his reputation, and even his life if necessary to find out the truth about the crash. But his integrity cannot be compromised in the slightest. This quality of “integrity” is a key leadership trait in a person, and to possess this quality, one must have good morals.
Additional additions
If you observe how a leader handles the situations he encounters in his life, you will know what kind of character he has. Problems and difficulties cannot shape a person’s character. But they can help him to reveal his true character. Evil worldly forces always present a person with two choices. These two choices are to maintain his moral integrity, or to compromise and compromise. If he chooses the path of maintaining his moral integrity, he will encounter more or less contradictory situations in his life. But his character will become stronger. Russian writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn said, “The meaning of being a man on earth is not to grow and prosper, as we usually think, but to develop our inner self.”
