I'll put a small cup in front of you.
If you ask me, "Please," would you dare to ask?
The person who said that will be kicked in the chest with his heel.
"What do you think of me as?"
Actually, these things don't require passion. They just happen spontaneously from time to time.
Tell me. If I had begged with my reputation as a writer, would you believe me?
Actually, these issues are not something I have any interest in. I ran away from home since 1986. When the 1988 uprising happened, I ran away from home and reached Yangon via Rambree Island in Rakhine State.
During the crisis, I also disappeared from home for exactly two years, so my loving parents stopped looking for me and just listed me as dead.
"The boy named Maung Kyi is dead."
Time is running out. When I was still a child, I wandered around during the crisis and even took refuge in a beggar's hut pitched next to a garbage dump.
Don't belittle him even though he's a beggar. You good people, if you have something to ask for, you'll just wrap bandages and hire children.
“Please have mercy.” At home, I have been watching the big black and white TV with pink stickers on it to make it look like color.
The house is invaded. Don't ask if the living conditions are high. If it's not good, I won't eat. The song "The Rich Man" was chosen from the song "The Rich Man". What does it mean? "Working beggars.
"You can also call them 'working beggars'. They are professionals.
They stayed there for two or three days, then kicked me out because they couldn't feed me anymore, and then they came back.
I am not a fisherman like a fisherman, nor a hunter like a hunter. I live with them, I know how they work, and I know how to make money. I can beg if I want to. But I don't have a passion for it. Why should I?
But these jobs don't have to be a passion. Sometimes they just happen spontaneously,
Well.. I came home after the incident. I failed the 8th grade three times and was too old to stay in school, so I joined the civil service. I was too old to stay in school. I was too young to join the civil service, so I cheated my life (after I grew up) and joined the civil service.
As you know, employees are like that. This is not the era when salaries are increased and people earn a lot. We have to beg and eat to make ends meet for ourselves and our families. If we didn't do that, there wouldn't be many employees who would starve to death. (I'm talking about that era.)
But I'm shy. I've never done that before. When it comes to places where I get paid, I sell my place. I'll never go. I'm not asking for it.
After a while, I got tired of that life. One day, I just put on a suit, went to work, and came back to work. That's it. Nothing.
So I left my job after 7 years of service. Not because it was inconvenient. I just didn't want to do it anymore. But this job doesn't have to be a hobby. It happens spontaneously.
From there, I went back into construction.
In construction, I can only get by with my skills. I mean, I've been working in a uniform and doing my job well. Why would I change jobs and do manual labor?
As I said, I don't want to do anything that requires begging. So instead of doing that work, I'm just doing manual labor. I don't know if I'm honest. I've been a construction worker and the older people liked me, and I've been promoted to a position and become a clerk.
The clerk is the one who checks the stones, sand, and new stones. As we all know, in government work, bricks, sand, new stones, and oil are wasted by (20) percent. Every time goods are delivered, (20) percent is wasted. (That's why people in construction are rich) That's how it is. The people who deliver the goods adjust. They don't carry that wasted (20) percent. Reduce it. So we will adjust the money.
If you put (10) stones in a horse, you will lose (2) holes, and if they put (50) stones in a horse, you will get (10) holes back. If you put (50) holes in a horse, you will get (60) holes. (Ask me about all the tricks, I know them all).
So they came to fix me. I didn't do it. I mean it. Because it's a very good place to ask for it from them. Anyone would want to live in a place where they have money and are comfortable. But I can't.
I quit my job without any problems. I don't want to work just for the money. Such a nice place. Where would a normal person leave? Even if they were to remove the glue with a hammer, they wouldn't want to leave.
After leaving that job and gaining experience, I came to Yangon to become a writer. Being a writer is like that, what is the point of starting out? (Not now) I only got a small fee for my own writing, and I was so poor that I had no place to live, so I had to work as a gardener at my cousin's farm. There were many days when I went hungry because I had no food. There were also long days when I had to walk because I didn't have a car.
But I like this life. This job doesn't require asking for money, they give it to me. And even when they do, they give it to me.
"I'll give you a small fee, sir."
How good is that? I don't need to ask for anything. They give it to me.
So. I have been in this life until I became a 'faithful person'. Well.. If you had asked for a cup of 'faithful person', would you believe it? Believe it. I have really asked for a cup of faithful person.
Actually, these jobs don't have to be a passion. They just happen when the time is right, if you're lucky.
For example.
I love writing. I don't like going to literary events. I don't like standing in front of people. I don't like that, so I'm a writer who stays behind the scenes. But even if you don't like it, you still like literary events when people who love literature invite you.
It's not a hobby, but it just happened naturally.
Similarly, there are also things that happen because of the right time, without any passion.
Once, I was invited to give a lecture in a foreign region. It was a big event for them. I stayed for about a week or ten days. I had to speak in two or three places, but what happened was that when I arrived at one place, a monastery that was not on the program interrupted me.
If you are invited to a lecture without being on the program, it can be very confusing. What happens is that people who are not used to listening to lectures, and those who think of lectures as speeches, come to listen. When you are not used to listening to lectures, people who talk to each other and talk in small groups can be very annoying. As you know, lectures are a kind of speech where someone who is not an actor speaks in a loud voice without any music or singing. Only a very good speech can attract attention.
If you don't know how to speak properly, you're dead in front of someone who doesn't listen.
The monastery I'm talking about now is still great. Everyone listens attentively. There aren't many people who have to organize a prayer meeting. It's a monastery that saves ethnic refugees abroad, so everyone is very respectful.
My speech only lasted an hour.
After I spoke, the monk stood up. Then he said from the microphone, “Have you listened to what the monk said?” “Please, Buddha.” Everyone raised their hands. “Please, Buddha, remember what you should remember.” “Please, Buddha.”
"Hey, I saved the refugees here, so I don't have any special gifts to give to the teacher. A student came to try and help me." "Please help me."
A student came out. The monk pointed to the corner of the room.
"Go get the silver cup from there."
I also just stared at the monk, not knowing what he was doing. The cup arrived and the monk pointed at me, who was sitting cross-legged.
"Give it to the teacher." "Yes."
The cup came into my hand. I also held it in my hand. Then the monk said,
"Okay.. I'll put as much as I can into the cup you're holding so that the teacher who came to preach can feel comfortable."
"Revelation"
My head is tired and I'm getting older. It's over. I've learned my life.
