Where you sit is as important as what you say.

The seating arrangements below are most commonly used in modern businesses.

1. Rectangular Table - Rectangular tables are most commonly used as work tables and are commonly used in conference rooms and seminar rooms. The table shape gives equal space to attendees and also promotes eye contact.

2. Round Table - Often used as a coffee table with low chairs. It creates a relaxed, comfortable environment and is very attractive. King Arthur used this type of table to encourage his heroes and hold discussions. In theory, this type of table gives equal power to all those sitting. In practice, the person sitting closest to the most powerful person has the most power.

3. Square Table - This type of table promotes cooperation with those around you and creates a sense of opposition. If four people are sitting, each person will be facing another person, and is most commonly used in restaurants. Where you sit at work can reflect the relationship between you and your colleagues and influence your mood. People who are friendly with each other tend to sit close together at the corners of the table, while those who are competitive tend to sit facing each other.

The seat you sit on is also important.

Are you uncomfortable sitting in a business meeting and have to sit in a chair reserved for guests? This situation is often caused by the owner of the office setting up the office to enhance his prestige and make the guests feel inferior. Here are some things you should know about these chairs.

1. Seat Size and Design - The size of the seat back can elevate or demean the owner. The higher the seat back, the more prestige and power the occupant has. How much do you think a queen or pope would express if they sat in a piano-playing chair? Swivel chairs allow users to move freely, so they are less likely to be in a position where they can’t get out of bed like a chair.

2. Seat Height - If your seat is higher than the other person's, it can increase your power. Some executives find that by raising the backrest and seat height to the highest setting, they can dominate the guest sitting on the other side.

3. Location - The influence can be more effective if the guest's seat is directly facing the employer or executive table. The best way to eliminate influence and show your personality is to sit as far away from the table as possible.

Avoid living in situations that can diminish your existence and confidence.

Workplace posture

Rule: 3

If an employer wants to avoid arguments with his employees and the discomfort of not being able to remember what was said, he should never sit in a face-to-face position. Sitting directly across from them is uncomfortable and creates bad feelings. The face-to-face position should only be used when you want to exert influence over the other person.

Workplace posture

Rule-4

Studies show that students tend to perform better when they sit to the left of the teacher's desk. This is because the teacher is more focused on the left side of the table than the right. If you are a salesperson, sit to the left of the customer to gain the most benefit. However, in a meeting, sit to the right of the employer to avoid imposing authority.

Workplace posture for women

If you are a woman, you should avoid sitting cross-legged in meetings and conferences. You should not sit cross-legged unless you are wearing a long skirt, one that hits below the knee. This is because even in today’s liberal era, seeing a woman’s thighs can be a turn-on for men, which can lead to them focusing more on the person than on what the woman is saying. 90% of female TV presenters wear clothes that show off their bodies and thighs. This is because men tend to stay on TV longer because of this. However, the more they focus on a woman’s legs and thighs, the less likely they are to remember what she is saying. So the rule is clear. Sitting cross-legged in a public place is okay. However, it should be avoided in business settings.

As a woman, displaying her feminine charms in business meetings at work diminishes confidence and impression.

Workplace etiquette for men

If you are in a workplace where you work with women, avoid sitting cross-legged and sit with your knees slightly bent. Sitting with your knees bent is a masculine posture, but it is similar to a monkey trying to dominate another animal. It is a challenge to the other person and is considered disrespectful. Men often do this behavior unconsciously, but it is a rude type of posture. In the workplace and business meetings, men often make this gesture, which is very annoying to women. Women respond to this posture with defensive postures, such as crossing their legs and arms in front of them. Or they respond with aggressive words, unconsciously.

If women encounter men who cross their legs in the workplace, do not react aggressively to their behavior. Use humor and subtle warnings when appropriate.
