What is morality?

Morality is generally understood as good morals. In fact, it is the inherent quality of a person, and morals are the mental and intellectual foundations that guide and teach all actions, words, and conduct. People act and live according to that mental attitude. If that mental attitude is good and noble, then their behavior will be good. Behavior is not true morals. Only the inner mind that motivates that behavior is true morals. If the inner mind is defective, then the behavior will be defective.

The quality of character must be built up through discipline, observance, awareness, correction, and maintenance. Without these practices, there can be no character. Therefore, the inner mind and the mental impulses and efforts are interconnected.

The scope of the word "morality" is not as broad as the scope of morality. The things that must be practiced are only a part of morality, and the mental actions that must be considered, contemplated, and pursued are also the things that must be developed from morality. All the actions of the three organs, body, speech, and mind, radiate from the center of morality. Since morality is the one that controls and guides the physical and mental activities of people so that they do not harm the interests of the world, the most necessary and highest quality for people is the perfection of morality and the strength of morality.

The power and influence of perfect character are also vast. Character is the quality that can propel one to the top of the world. According to the fabric of character, people receive the trust, respect, and admiration of each other.

Just as people respect people for their intelligence and brilliance, people also respect people for their moral virtues. Knowledge is a matter of the intellect, and morality is a matter of the spirit, so knowledge without morality is worthless. It is only the power of the mind that can manipulate the world and knowledge, and since the forces of the mind are systematically organized, the power of morality is the main force. Rather than respecting the wise, the inner nature of the character and the motivation and effort of the mind are interconnected.

It is only the power of the mind that can manipulate the world and knowledge, and since the forces of the mind are systematically organized, character strength is the main force. Rather than respecting the wise, a few lines cannot fully describe the moral character. Honesty, loyalty, kindness, compassion, aversion to evil, fearlessness, and understanding of rights are all small parts of character. Only when these qualities are properly developed can we understand the standard of character strength. Good deeds of the body and mind are the physical manifestations of the spiritual substance that does not embody the essence of morality.

Wise men often say that when judging a person's greatness, it is more important to judge him by his behavior in ordinary human life than by his talent or his outstanding abilities. A person's moral strength can be revealed by his kindness to his friends, his kindness to those in need, his keeping his word, his steadfastness in the face of hardship, and his steadfastness in the face of hardship.

A person should be judged based on his actions in the world rather than on his written words. Whether poor or good, a person is considered a good person if he possesses the moral qualities that are found in good people.

Morality is not related to intelligence or education. It cannot be said that moral strength will be strengthened by education and new knowledge. It is also possible that morals can be destroyed by increasing education and various kinds of evil. If the natural mind does not have the instinct to cultivate good thoughts and good intentions, no matter how educated, no matter how broad-minded, it will only be filled with deceitful thoughts and evil thoughts that will cause harm to others. Only knowledge that grows on a good mind is valuable. Only knowledge can improve morals, and those who degrade them will be a good person, and those who degrade them will be worse than ordinary uneducated people.

George Herbert once said that a handful of good deeds is worth as much as an armful of knowledge. This is not to denigrate the virtues and powers of knowledge. It is simply to show the connection. Just as there are good people among the educated, there can also be good people among the uneducated. However... The corruption of the uneducated is not as terrible as the corruption of the educated. The power of the educated is greater than the power of the uneducated.

A person can be skilled in various fields, but he cannot be a pure person in character. It is not enough to be educated. Only with mature thinking, great attitude, experience, lessons learned, and integrity can one fully reap the benefits of that knowledge. These aids are only moral strength... Just as a lotus can grow in the mud, so can a new character bloom among the uneducated.

Some people think that wealth can help to improve morals. This is not a correct and consistent concept. Wealth can also create corruption and greed. Wealth and greed, pleasure and lust are related, and if morality is not maintained in order to achieve good and noble happiness, it will not be sustainable for a long time. If there is a bad nature, it can become strong because of happiness and commit great corruption. Don't you see and hear many rich and noble people who have lost their morals?

Just as a person who is poor and has a bad character can be destroyed by stealing, so too can a person who is rich and have a bad character be destroyed by greed, anger, pride, and ego, and so on. A bad character is not only remembered during one's lifetime but also remains until one passes away. It is a loss that will lead to loss and death. Whether one is poor or rich, one must cultivate good character deliberately. Being rich will not prevent one from losing character. Nor will it be possible to excuse one's poor character. A person with good character will always have good character, no matter where in the world, in what life, or at what level he is. If one has good character, even if one is poor while alive, one can die with a good reputation. A good character does not fulfill one's human duties by living in a good state. Only a good death can make one a good person.

Morality is also business, and a moral economy will certainly benefit from that economy. If we divide the ranks of people, the one who is morally prosperous must be at the highest level. Morality should not be left out for any reason. Moral decay should not be excused for any reason. It is the primary responsibility of everyone to strengthen morality so that they can be worthy of being human in the world.

All the goodness of the mind should also be included in the character element. People cannot assume that they are complete in character just by being honest. They also need to have other good qualities. For example, if a person has good character but is angry, his character will be like the wisdom of a mute person. Therefore, he must also cultivate the qualities of good character.

Morality is cultivated gradually and step by step. Even if it is not a deliberate practice in the world, everything we do is done by filling the fabric of morality.

Good, by reflection, and by reflexive response. Even a tiny hair can be seen as small as a shadow.
