I've been eating alms with Karaniya and I'm getting a toothache.

It means “We have been doing things the way they are for a long time, and there is no need to make any special efforts.” It also means “We have had a lot of experience with our own way and our own success. It is not worth looking for another way.” This expression is used by those who do not want to seek progress but are stuck with the old way and do not want to look for anything other than the current way. It is used by those who think that they have had enough experience with their own way of doing things and have achieved considerable success.

This is how this proverb came about.

Once, when a monk was urged by a layman, “It would be good for you to continue teaching the scriptures and the Pitaka, so that you will have more devotees and alms.” The monk replied, “Daka, I am old, and I don’t think that alms can be obtained only by studying the Pitaka. I have been eating alms with my head down, and my teeth are already worn out.”

“Karaniya” is a reference to the third stanza of the Mettā Sutta Preit, which states, “Karaniyamatthā kusa lena, yantasantam padam abhīsamēsa”, and is intended to indicate that the Mettā Sutta Preit is usually recited at the almshouse when alms are offered. The tooth has become hollow, meaning that the surface of the tooth has become hollow, like the letter “vathet chūṭṭṭṭṭṭṭ” due to the many alms eaten.

It was not a joke, but a joke.

On stage, the dancers were dancing in a circle, running and jumping to the edge of the stage, and when someone pushed them to the edge of the stage, they were pushed and kicked without escaping.

Following the old ways is the old way and is a surefire way to success. However, when you try something new and have no experience, you have to experiment, and success is uncertain. There is always a risk in innovation. In this case, when you are innovative and suffer losses, it is considered that you are only harmed by breaking away from the old ways, and it is likened to being thrown out of the way by someone who is new.

Proverbs exist for both sides of the idea and are used in the desired direction. It is not necessary to assume that every proverb is absolutely true. It should only be considered that they are used to compare the two extremes. There are also proverbs such as "Kae-a-pyin-chan" and "I will die like this".

Like a tiger entering a camel's nest

It is said that a tiger entered a group of Kala people and roared loudly. The Burmese people think that the Kala people speak loudly. They are a people with a quick and easy speech, and they have a lot of Assamese and Burmese tongue twisters.

When a group of people speak one word at a time, it can be annoying to those who don't understand. Therefore, if it is considered noisy in nature even in normal times, it is said that when a tiger attacks and bites, it will be even noisier when it screams in fear.

It is described as an unbearable noise.

The palm tree continues to grow.

The elephant tramples through the bamboo forest,

The sound of a cotton seed.

One grain of good, one pound of hell

It means that even if you do something with the intention of doing good, you can earn many times more unwholesome deeds. For example, if you order chickens and pigs to be killed in advance to give alms because you want to do good, if you refuse to give them food because you are afraid that it will not be enough, if you earn money in an unwholesome way to make ends meet, etc., you will commit many times more unwholesome deeds, and thus, you will have less merit and many times more hell.

Since one pisas is worth one hundred kyats, the difference in the ratio between two thousand selimu and three kyats, one thousand six hundred selimu and one thousand six hundred selimu and two thousand selimu is worth one hundred kyats.

It can also be used to describe situations where there is little benefit but much harm, or where there is little gain but much loss, etc.

The sword is not finished.

One cup of meat, ten cups of bones.

Trust in fate, don't step on thorns.

The consequences of a cause cannot be avoided, and the consequences must occur as the cause does. This means that the sin that is caused by the cause cannot be avoided in any way.

Even if you believe that you have very good luck, you will still be pricked if you step on a thorn. Even if you are lucky, you will not be pricked. The thorn will pierce something that is not as hard as you, and it will pierce it in proportion. Therefore, the law of cause and effect, action and effect, the law of causality, cannot be avoided in any way. You cannot escape the law of causality by relying on karma. If you avoid the thorn with your strength of will and intelligence, or if you wear protective clothing that cannot pierce it, you will be free from the pricking.

It is a warning to those who believe in fate, that they should not be too attached to it and should not take things lightly, thinking that they are inevitable. It is a warning to those who believe in fate, that good and bad will happen according to the actions they take.

No matter how lucky you are, you will always be wise.

I'm sorry, I can't believe my own knees.

He said he wouldn't tell anyone but himself. He couldn't even trust his own knee.

It is common to mistrust others and suffer losses. Therefore, the wise warn that it is very difficult to trust others who are separate in mind and body in the world. The Mahasatha Jataka also shows that there is no one in the world who can be trusted, and the important point is that one should not tell anyone a secret. Therefore, let alone others. It is said that one cannot trust even one's own knee, which is a part of one's body.

People often go to places they have decided not to go. This is because they do not trust their knees. Even if they think that their knees will not hurt, they will hurt when they do not expect it due to rheumatism. People cannot always change the 32 elements of blood and the four elements, and the knees are one of the parts of their bodies that cannot be trusted in any way. Therefore, if you cannot control your knees, you should believe that others will do as you wish.

It is evident that it is impossible.
