The crown of the dragon king
Detective Inspector U Than Pe, who is over 40 years old, has a few gray hairs on his head. It is alleged among the police and gangsters that each gray hair is due to a case by Thaw Sein, alias Ba Kyaw Hla. It is also said that the case described below is the 41st gray hair that Detective Inspector U Than Pe has. By saying this, Ba Kyaw Hla has caused trouble for Inspector U Than Pe in 40 cases and 40 times around Yangon.
Nowadays, when Du Wa Naung, the chief of the Chin people, came to Yangon, the whole of Myanmar recognized him and became a great leader. However, about 20 years ago, when Oribaw, the chief of the Naga people, arrived in Yangon, there was not so much recognition. Apart from reporters from two newspapers visiting him, the townspeople only heard the words, "A chieftain has arrived."
Then, Thuriya and the Myanmar Light reporters visited the Minto Mansion Hotel where Oriya was staying, met with the Naga Sawbwa, and asked him about the news that the public wanted to know. The following was reported in the Thuriya newspaper the next morning.
The arrival of the dragon king
The chief of the Naga people, Oribaw, arrived in Yangon yesterday and is staying at the Minto Mansion Hotel. The reason for his visit was to leave a crown worth 5,000 won with the P.O. Company, which has now completed the work, and the chief himself has paid for it and is taking it back from the company. The crown is adorned with rubies and sapphires, and the lower part is made of silver and the top is made of gold. The P.O. Company has completed the work on the crown as scheduled, and the Naga chief has moved the crown from the P.O. Company to the Minto Mansion Hotel. The Naga chief is about thirty years old and tall, although he is a Pyin Naga, but he has a neat appearance. He has a thin, thin eyebrow, He had a nice moustache and a thick beard like a Punjabi, but he was actually a handsome man, but because he had shaved his beard, he looked like an old man. The chieftain spoke to our reporter with a friendly demeanor and patiently explained the customs of his people.
One strange custom was that the women of his domain had to come and live with the chief for three days when they were about to get married. It was considered an honor for women to live like this, and they would give the chief a bribe according to their status. There were various levels of women, from those who could afford one hundred baht to those who could afford two thousand baht. Women who could not afford one hundred baht and could not come and live with the chief were said to be humiliated for the rest of their lives and ignored by others. The chief did not collect any other taxes from his subjects, and the tax he received in this way alone was said to be more than ten thousand and twenty thousand baht annually. It is said that the Naga chief would stay in Yangon for about a week, watch the movies, and then return to his domain.
The next day, the Naga Sawbwa received a postcard from the post office. On the postcard, there was only a rough pencil drawing of a grandfather, with no other words except the Sawbwa's address. The grandfather was holding a kyat and a staff. The Sawbwa did not understand the meaning of the postcard, so he showed it to the hotel manager, who immediately telephoned the Detective Chief Inspector. Soon, the Detective Chief Inspector, U Than Pe, a close friend of the Detective Chief Inspector and a very famous detective in the detective department, arrived at the Minto Minshin Hotel and consulted with the Naga Sawbwa.
When U Than Pe saw the postcard with the image of his grandfather, he immediately assumed that it must be the work of the man who had caused him so much trouble and confusion. When he looked carefully at the corner of the postcard , he saw the words "Thursday" written in English.
Seeing this, U Than Pe immediately interpreted it as a signal that the famous villain, Ba Kyaw Hla, would seize the crown of the Saw Bwa on Thursday, and his eyes widened.
Saobwa .. “What happened, sir?”
U Than Pe . . . “What will happen, Saobwa? A bad person will take your crown.”
Grandma .. “Does it have to be whatever he wants?”
Dad .. “Well.. I don’t mean that he has to take it whenever he wants. But he said he would take it so that he wouldn’t have to.”
Grandmother . . “Take it and see. I also have disciples and weapons. I am not afraid.” Father . . (Shaking his head) The Grandmother does not know about this creature. He has caused me much trouble. The Grandmother has disciples and weapons, but I am not confident. Let me and my men come and protect him.”
Grandma .. (with a confused expression) “You people in Yangon are so busy, it’s easy to catch bad guys here. If you think this guy is bad, you can just catch him and cut off his head.”
Father .. “What about you, because we have laws and regulations?
