A little girl named Heidi lives with her grandfather in the Alps. The Alps are higher than the town of "Dawfield". It is very cold in her grandfather's hut. Grandpa has a lot of good food.
Many people are afraid of the old man. The old man is ugly and speaks in a deep voice. But the old man is kind. Heidi loves the old man.
Heidi's parents had died a long time ago. So Heidi lived with her aunt. But now her aunt "Ditta" had to work in Frankfurt. So she had to take Heidi to her grandfather.
