Last week in June.
I am with my colleague, Ko Moe Wai.... We are cleaning up the old manuscripts in the Contemporary Literature Department. For our new venture, “Nyeon Magazine,” we are desperately searching for good manuscripts that have been hidden. In fact, when previous magazines such as Thit San and Nyingma were published, they had to be discontinued, and there were manuscripts left unused.
Even so, Ko Moe Wai and I took out the files one by one from the desk cabinets, clearing out the large stack of copies. There were quite a few copies.
Meanwhile, Ko Moe Wai happily said, “Oh... here are Ko Ye Khaung’s manuscripts…” and pulled out another manuscript from the folder. I also looked at Ko Ye Khaung’s familiar handwriting.
On the pages torn from the copybook, we find the beginning and end of the short story "The Naked Truth". However, the other three are only fragments.
One of the three stories is still untitled, and the other is titled “Aung Ka Lay Thaa Phu.” Ko Ye Khaung himself wrote a story with that title in Tara Magazine. The story we found, “Aung Ka Lay Thaa Phu,” is not a story from Tara Magazine, but a different story. The last story is quite special.
“ Ha... my... I remember, my... it's the manuscript I brought back... this... is Nuyonkalay...” Ko Moe Wai stammered and pulled out the novel. Nuyonkalay... the police chief... wrote...
Ko Ye Khaung's beautiful, smooth handwriting

“ When Ko Ye Khaung was going to write a long novel, either with me or with Ko Min Shin... or all three of us... he would tell us the story he was going to write and discuss it... Well... around January 1949... Ko Ye Khaung came to me... Ko Min Shin was not there at that time. Po Saw Gyi was in Mandalay with his parents..
Ko Moe Wai was talking about the little girl, even though he stuttered.
That day, Ko Ye Khaung came to him and told him that he had thought of a story to write a novel. A day or two later... Ko Ye Khaung came to Ko Moe Wai again. He had more than 40 pages of manuscript in his hand. Ko Ye Khaung... as soon as he had an idea for a novel, he had the ability to write it very quickly. He finished his novel in 4 days... and it was not long. Now, from the copies he had in his hand, he began to write the novel he had talked about.
"Is the name of the novel Nuyonkalay?"
Ko Moe Wai, as usual, was lying on his bed, looking at the manuscripts that Ko Ye Khaung had given him.
" Yes... How are you, good one..."
"That's good.."
“Now.. Now.. Read what I wrote.., I'm very practical...” “I'll read it.., so when I'm done writing, where will I give it to...”
" I promised to give Shuma Wa a long story, so I have to give it to Shuma Wa..."
However, with Ko Ye Khaung writing it, and Ko Moe Wai reading it and encouraging me, the novel "Nuyonkalay" came to life, and it was more than halfway finished in 4-5 days.
When the Karen crisis broke out, Ko Moe Wai and his family were shocked and had to temporarily move from their neighborhood to Mugo Street in Yangon, temporarily loosing contact with Ko Ye Khaung.
In April, Ko Ye Khaung returned to Mugo Street. He looked very tired and quite thin.
" Hey man, where have you been... You look so skinny..."
" Hey... I've been busy... So... Do you still remember Nuyun?"
" I remember... I've read a lot of your stuff, so I'm starting to get bored. What's the point? Have you finished writing it yet..."
" Almost finished..., only three or four more chapters left..."
" Well, then, leave everything you've written... Let me read it, okay..."
" You're so scared... You're so forgetful, okay... Take it.. Take this whole bag... Don't let it get lost... I'll come get it in three or four days, okay..."
The next three or four days...
However, Ko Ye Khaung was never seen again by Ko Moe Wai. Ko Ye Khaung was still missing. Later, I heard the news.
In fact, Ko Ye Khaung had already left Yangon to follow his path of faith.

“I also read the copy and waited for Ko Ye Khaung to wake up. As you know, he never showed up at once. So... I was afraid that his copies would be lost.. I brought them here and carefully stored them in the files... As usual, I completely lost consciousness and only now did I see them again.. I think I came to my senses..”
Ko Moe Wai tried to finish the story of Nu Yon Kae, even though he stammered. I was reading Ye Khaung's copy of Nu Yon Kae, leafing through it. In my mind... I remembered Ko Ye Khaung very much. He was also a close friend of mine.
" It's been a while since Ye Khaung's writings have been published... I heard... Ye Khaung's fans have been writing to the libraries that usually publish his novels to ask why they haven't published Ye Khaung's novels..."
An idea suddenly popped into my head.
" Now... if only a full-length novel by the police officer was published, I would be free."
"I said, "I'm sorry." Ko Moe Wai suddenly slammed the table.
" Oh, okay...you guys are publishing Ko Ye Khaung's novel..."
" Where is the long novel, honey..."
"Oh... it's in your hands..."
" Is that a little girl... huh... she's not finished yet... why did she bring it out..."
" Oh.. that's right..."

I opened my head and scratched it. I found the letter from the police chief that I wanted to get out.
But without an end... it is useless, like a headless body.
“ Hey... I really want to publish the entire novel by Ko Ye Khaung from our library... But... I'm stuck at the moment....”
" Oh.. oh... I forgot.. I forgot.. I just remembered. I can publish books, I can publish them... Oh.. I'm also quite good at forgetting.."
Ko Moe Wai slapped his forehead with his palm and said to me in a low voice. I was surprised and... looked at him with great expectation.
" Er... er... wear... wear... naked and naked oath... in... in..."
Ko Moe Wai was more likely to stutter when he wanted to say something, so I understood what he meant and quickly pulled out the new manuscript... and flipped it over.
The papers... they were quickly turned over.
" I found it, I found it"
I said happily.
With that naked truth, I finally found the ending of Nuyon Kae, which made me so happy. The truth is that we both didn't look carefully at the manuscripts that were listed by title, so we didn't find the ending of Nuyon Kae. Then Ko Moe Wai explained to me.....
“After Ko Ye Khaung disappeared, I also put a large piece of Nu Yoon’s manuscript in this file. About 3-4 days later, his nephew came and sent me another large manuscript that Ko Ye Khaung had asked me to give him. In it, Nu Yoon’s End was written along with Naked Truth and Awkward Flowing... I didn’t even bother to read it. I was busy with work, so I didn’t know whether it was Naked Truth or Awkward Flowing, so I cut it out and put it together with the old manuscripts. I forgot the whole thing….”
Ko Moe Wai ended the long explanation with a stutter. As for me, I was so disappointed to see the manuscript that I had to leave it like this, but now I have reached the end without expecting it, and I am filled with joy.
“ I will do it, Ko Moe Wai... I will publish it as a separate novel..."

And so, the story of Nuyon Kalayet emerged as a brilliant book.
Ko Ye Khaung may be satisfied with the publication of his novel, which he had only given to Ko Moe Wai without his permission, without complaining. Or he may be angry. In any case, for us, the desire to fulfill a longing for the literary community is strong. Only in the future.. if Ko Ye Khaung is not satisfied.. will we have to apologize and beg for mercy. Now, the world is ten... the literary community.. longs for his manuscript that is hidden.
