U Ba Kaley
(1918 - 2009)
Famous cartoonist, publisher of Shwe Pyone magazine. Born on December 12, 1918 in Thandwe to U San Hla and Daw Aye Pon. He was fond of painting and cartooning since childhood. He graduated from Thandwe High School in 10th grade. In 1936, he became a member of the Burma Art Club. He was a contemporary of U Ngwe Kai, U Ba Jam, Saya Saung, U Bakyee, U Hein Sun, U Ohn Lwin, U San Win and other artists and cartoonists. He drew cartoons for Thuriya, Rangoon, and the Progressive Newspapers, as well as Deeduk and the Funny Journals and Magazines. He also published the Burma Newspaper (1942) and the Children's Newspaper (1955). He also published Awi Si (British Burma Nyunt Myanmar Company), Phol Nat Thar (Bone Win Film Company), Thay Min (Diamond Company), Ko Zaw Pyan (Golden Lion Company), He directed animated films such as The Housewife (BPI Company), Do Yan Thu. He wrote about 120 novels, articles, cartoons, and stories in total, of which the most famous is the colorful cartoon book "Luthu Aung Than" of Prime Minister U Nu, printed in Manila in 1952. Later, he published his own weekly magazine "Shun Pyone". He died on December 29, 2009 at Yangon General Hospital.
Colonel Bako
(1919 - 1985)
Retired Major, Writer, and Film Actor. Born on December 10, 1919 in Mandalay to U Than and Daw Wint. He received a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from Yangon University in 1941. He also received a Law Degree in 1957. He also received a Master of Arts from Yale University, USA, in 1955. He joined the Burma Independence Army in 1941 and retired as a Major in 1953. He received his Zeya Kyaw Htin degree in 1950. He served as a Researcher and Editor of the Literary Institute from 1953-59. He was an External Examiner at Yangon University, Mandalay University, Pathein College, and Mawlamyine College, and taught Linguistics at the Department of Burmese Literature, Yangon University. He received the Independence Medal (Second Class) in 1958. In 1958 , he made his acting debut in the film “The Public Scream”. He won Academy Awards for the films “Sita Pyone” (1970) and “Tikwi Tik Yabar” (1971). In addition to being a film actor, he also wrote and published books such as “Yale University Records, Missouri Traveler”, “Journey to China” and “Hemingway Short Stories”. He died in Yangon on June 22, 1985.
U Baswe
(1915 - 1987)
Leader of the underground revolution, General Secretary of the Socialist Party, former Prime Minister. Born on April 19, 1915, to U Htun Hlaing and Daw Pay Lay in Ohnpin Kwin Sha, Dawei District. He studied at the National Middle School and Government High School in Dawei. He passed the 10th grade in 1936 and continued his education at the University of Yangon. In 1939, he became the General Secretary of the All Burma Students' Union and in 1940-41, he served as the President of the Yangon University Students' Union. In December 1938, he was imprisoned in Magway Prison for preaching to the oil field workers' strike force in Magway. He was sentenced to 6 months in prison, but was released from prison after students from all over the country protested. In 1941, he left the university and entered politics. He became a leading figure in the People's Revolutionary Party (PRP). From the time the Thirty Comrades were sent to Japan to the fascist revolution, he worked secretly as an underground revolutionary leader. During the Japanese period, in 1942, he took charge of the city defense force called Kebodai and carried out revolutionary activities from behind the scenes. In 1945, he became the General Secretary of the Socialist Party, and from 1945 to 1952, he also served as the General Secretary of the Federation In the political world, he was known as “Kyagyi Ba Swe”. He was also awarded the First Class Medal of Honor by Marshal Tito, the White Elephant Medal by His Majesty the King of Thailand, the Medal of Independence (First Class), and the National Order of Merit (First Class). He died in Yangon on December 6, 1987.
Banyadala
(about 870 - 934 AD)
A brilliant and courageous advisor and minister to King Bayintnaung Kyaw Htin Nawrahta, he is famous in the literary world for his book "The History of the Revolution". He is a Mon and was the advisor to the Hanthawaddy White Elephants, and is also an expert in military strategy. He is respected by the whole of Myanmar along with King Bayintnaung. He was also the first person to sit on the throne of Hanthawaddy, and was also given an office along with the title of "Aung Aung". He was not only a military man but also a literary man. He translated the Mon history book "The History of the Revolution" into Burmese and wrote it under the title "The History of the Revolution". This book is still a standard in prose writing and conciseness to this day. It is the best of the five historical books, which is a book that describes the military affairs of King Rajadhiraja and King Min Khaung of Inwa. It can clearly describe the world, human affairs, the era, and the military affairs. The writing is also concise and clear, with short and very meaningful sentences. It is a book that is admired by historians of the later era. King Bayintnaung believed in the truth, but he had been assassinated three times. King Bayintnaung did not spare those who were full of courage and courage. He even forgave those who were not tolerant. In the year 934, Lin Zin "Banya" was in a military situation, so he could not tolerate it and sent him to a small village in Yodaya called "Zanak" with 5 servants. In "Zanak" he fell ill and the King of Yodaya had him stay in "Kaman Pik" and died a month later.
