Chapter 1
My youthful feelings are like shooting stars. The faster they are, the brighter they shine...
When I like something, I want it so much that I'm consumed by desire. When I get it, I can't sleep or eat for three or four days, and I can't get enough of it.
But it didn't last long. I got bored. I didn't want to look back anymore.
Is my mind too childish? I can't understand myself. The stars are falling, falling one by one.
A small yellow cat was sleeping on the window sill. It was a lazy afternoon.
Zac sat down with his feet against the wall, feeling calm and bored. What more could he expect from such a dull, dull world?
He doesn't want to strive for anything. He doesn't want to possess anything, he doesn't want to conquer anything. He doesn't want to wear shiny crowns of gold and silver.
(He simply believed that a crown was only useful for children to play with.)
He heard the door of the room being pushed open with a “khi” sound. He knew that his uncle U Saw Wai had entered, but he didn’t look up (because he was too lazy to look up).
"Hey, Zac, what are you doing sitting on the floor? If you want to sit, you're not sitting on a chair."
"I'm tired of sitting on something designated as a chair."
His words made U Saw Wai scratch his head. U Saw Wai looked at his nephew with a look like, "I don't know if this guy is crazy yet."
"Hey, Zac, stop talking nonsense. I'm not really good at thinking. Just think like him and me."
"I think it's simple. It's difficult because we live by rules and formulas. Who named the east "East"? Why is the west called "West"? Is it because it's a place where people who do the same thing live?"
"Come on, Zac, don't keep saying that, you were the one who liked that chair in the first place."
U Saw Wai lost his nose and spoke in a raspy voice, causing me to laugh out loud.
In fact, about a month ago, he was so excited to get that chair (which is now in his room) that he had first seen it in the art section of a magazine.
He fell in love with it at first sight and called a craftsman he knew to make exactly the same model. He kept cutting and remaking it until he was satisfied, and it took about twelve chairs to get the shape he wanted.
As usual, when I first got it, I would sit on that chair to eat and read, like a child who had just received a new toy.
Now I don't know where those crazy obsessions have gone. As usual, I'm getting bored with everything.
Every now and then, I sit in front of the computer and chat with a friend on the internet...
Occasionally, I turn up the volume on the cassette (without really listening to it)... | Occasionally, I quietly touch the tips of my fingers together, gazing at the sunlight falling on the window pane...
Occasionally, he would sleep (without dreaming) and quietly walk through life, trying not to hear his footsteps.
