Animate, inanimate

The world is composed of both living and non-living things. All living things are known as beings, and all non-living things are understood as matter and form. Although all non-living things are unconscious, all living things are conscious according to the level of beings. Although there may be unconscious beings, the Buddha has taught that everything is composed of four great elements. Although they are constructed in different forms, they are not devoid of the four elements of nature: path, teja, apa, and vaya.

Such stepfathers still exist in the world, but if their biological parents fail to provide for their children, they will become irresponsible parents.
