Chapter (1)

People and society

A stable foundation

It is said that the most admirable quality in a person is good character, and the most abhorrent quality in a person is bad character. It is also said that the ornaments that can adorn a person's life are good character, and the ornaments that can make a person's life ugly are bad character. It is also said that the things that ruin a person's life are bad character, and the things that improve a person's life are good character.

Habit is defined as the tendency to occur frequently in present life (0), meaning that a certain behavior in the body, speech, and mind occurs many times, many times.

Some define it as “a habit is when a certain behavior occurs more than once or twice, or when a certain behavior is done more than once or twice.”

When a person becomes addicted to alcohol, he or she will continue to drink alcohol throughout his or her life. In that person's life, the act of drinking alcohol has become a daily occurrence, a large number of times a day. In other words, drinking alcohol has become more common than just once or twice a day. Such a persistent and frequent behavior (according to the above definition) can be called a "habit".

Another person may occasionally use a combination of wit and humor in his speech, and in the future, the behavior of using a combination of wit and humor in many situations becomes persistent in that person. In other words, the behavior of using a combination of wit and humor more than once or twice is more frequent in that person. Such behavior, which is frequent in many situations, persistent in that person, and more frequent than the usual behavior, can be called a “character” (according to the above definition).

Similarly, a person is often irritable in many places, sometimes, or once or twice, and more than usual. This irritability is common to him in many places, many times. In other words, the behavior that is common in many situations, in other words, the behavior that is more irritable than usual, should be called (according to the above definition) "character".

However, some people think that the above definition of common behavior as a habit is not a complete definition. This is because “every behavior that is common cannot be defined as a habit. In general, the behavior of breathing in and out is a constant in us from birth to death. Since this happens so often, breathing in and out cannot be defined as a habit.” However, some people say that “breathing in and out is not a “behavior,” but rather a “movement” (or “reaction”) that occurs for the body’s need to survive.”

Therefore, it is necessary to distinguish between “behavior” and “actions and reactions that occur for the survival of the body.” In addition, it is necessary to distinguish between responses and the stimuli that cause behavior (6). In turn, it is necessary to distinguish between motives that have a significant correlation with the mind and motives that do not have a significant correlation with the mind. In making such a distinction, there may be difficulties in defining the exact meaning due to over-reliance on the meaning of the terms used, lack of knowledge of the exact process of the body, and other reasons.

"If we cannot define behavior precisely, we cannot define "habit" precisely either."

However, here, any action that is performed temporarily, whether by body, speech, or mind, is defined as an action, and it is repeated in many situations.
