Between Taungoo and Phyu, on the western side of the middle and west Yoma hills, is Mya Thein Tan Pagoda. Mya Thein Tan Pagoda was built by U Thein, Daw Mya and his son Ko Tan, and is inscribed with the name “Mya Thein Tan” Pagoda. On the lower level of the pagoda, on the ridge of the middle Yoma hill, there is an ancient ruined pagoda. It is called “Amin Min Naing” Pagoda. Many donors who tried to repair this pagoda failed, failed, and some even died due to poor health. Therefore, no one dared to repair the Amin Min Naing Pagoda, and it remained in the forest for many years as a mountain pagoda.
It is said that the Amin Min Naing Pagoda was built near the Phyu Chaung when Tabin Shwe Htee and Bayint Naung invaded Hanthawaddy. When it was originally built, it was a full-sized pagoda. Tabin Shwe Htee gave a sword as a sacred object, and Bayint Naung gave a Navarat ring. Queen Khin Khin Gyi donated a necklace and a talisman, and the Hanthawaddy campaign was successful, and she received four (4) relics.
- One was donated to Taungoo Shwe San Taw, one to Abayamuni Pagoda in the east of Pyay, and two to Amin Min Naing Pagoda. Amin Min Naing Pagoda is the Pagoda of Peace in the Land,
He has the titles of Aung Myay Pagoda and Min Lam Pagoda. The monks enjoy the sacred space and often perform the drama during the summer months.
The white, green, red, blue, and yellow colored lights on the central ridge of the pagoda can be seen from the border of Phyu and Zeyawaddy.
. The monk we worship lives in a forest on the other side of the Phyu River and practices sari alone. During the party council period, one day, the party chairman U Thaung Shwe and the secretary U Kyaw Myint came to visit the monk. A large lady from Mandalay also came with them. The purpose was to restore the Amin Min Naing Pagoda to a Ko Taung Pyae Pagoda and to offer a new canopy.
When asked by the monk...
“Wait, Daka, what is your relationship with the forest god and the mountain god?”
Chairman U Thaung Shwe: “It has nothing to do with the disciples. This is a woman who came to visit her family in Phyu Township - she had a dream and wanted to donate. She asked the disciples for help, and the disciples also came to help in any way they could.”
"House... House... Sadhu... Sadhu... Sadhu"
"So... tell me about your dream, old lady."
“My dear friend, I am from Mandalay. I work in a gold shop. Last week, I came to Phyu after one of my relatives was unwell. The night after I arrived, I saw green, yellow, and blue lights on the middle wall. When I asked, I found out that this was the “Amin Min Naing” ancient pagoda. That made me want to visit it and get closer to the pagoda. The road to the pagoda was through fields and a forest road, so I knew that the road was rough, so I was relieved because I was a woman. Oh... Yesterday, while I was sleeping, I had a dream that a pink scarf was wrapped around my head. A handsome old man wearing a red linen shirt and a checkered cloth came and...
“Will you be a Buddha’s helper? I will repair the old pagoda on the middle wall and build a pagoda with a height of nine meters. Put up a pagoda. Your family will be well. You will also be successful in your business and be prosperous. You will also be a Buddha’s helper.” The disciple asked which Buddha, and there was a monk living nearby. He consulted with the monk. The monk said that he was the Buddha who had been blessed with a radiant light the night before. The disciple was very happy. He had long wanted to become a Buddha’s helper before he died, grew old, or became sick. The disciple asked the old man where the old man lived. He said that I was at the foot of the Buddha, near the mouth of the Pyu River. That is why I have come to consult with the elders here.”
, Monk ... .
"Ah... I'm allowed, I'll continue my engagement with the old lady. That's a strange person, U Ka-dung, and it's hard to meet him."
In the past, there were people who wanted to repair this Min Min Naing Pagoda. The road was difficult to reach during the rainy season, and in the summer, they could only reach it by cart, crossing a 1-ton field, so they often gave up considering the cost and the brother. Since bricks, mortar, lime, and stones had to be transported by cart, it would be time-consuming and expensive...
"Big Daka"
“The disciples can do it, the Master will lead the arrangements. As for the umbrella, ‘the disciples will do it according to their wishes and bring it from Mandalay,’” said Chairman U Thaung Shwe. “The disciples also have a plan to build a road with a road and a road.”
Monk...
"Daka Gyi..., give up on that matter . The road is good to go, but it will cost a lot. The fields will be destroyed. The farmers will suffer. They will only work with carts."
Secretary ••• - - -
“Master, I know the situation that you and your disciples have been in before. There is a large gap between the Buddha’s courtyard and the Chaung Kinpa. If you were to build a bridge over that gap, it would be as wide as the Buddha’s courtyard. Even if you build a bridge over it, I think you would need four or five cars. That’s why I thought of building a bridge over it. I will build a dirt road instead of a paved road.”
Monk...
"Please be patient, Dakka. The cost will be high. Some of it will be spent. The monk will take the initiative to dig up that large hole. The monk and Dakka's disciples will come from Yangon. The monk will take charge of that matter."
The big girl •••
"Please, please let the disciples be responsible for the cost."
Monk...
"It's not over. The monk will be in charge of the Uwa Daka and the Daka side, who will be responsible for the material and pension issues. So how long will it take?"
The old lady... - , , ,
"My disciple wants to finish it before the full moon of Tabaung, Lord. I have about a month to spare. Starting tomorrow, I will send the bricks, sand, cement, and other necessary materials. I will send the umbrella back to Mandalay, Lord. The Master has told me the dimensions."
Monk....
"Since it is a full-scale pagoda, the people who make the umbrellas know the E size. There is no need to order anything special."
Chairman...
“Please, I want to see the status of your disciples while they are visiting the Buddha.”
The monk...
"Hey... Hey... Good, good, take the great poet Uthi and have a look. He's a good dancer."
After (3) weeks, the monk came to us in Yangon (Insein) by personal messenger. The strange thing was that we had not visited the monk for a long time, so it was coincidental that we were buying rice, oil, salt, chili, onion and various kinds of beans to visit him the next day (Saturday). So the next morning at (5) am, I and (6) disciples, including () U Rikh, packed all our belongings and set off in a Hilux car.
When we arrived in Phyu, it was almost noon (12). We had lunch at a nearby shop. After that, we had to divide the items that were to be delivered to the Hilux police station and arrange for each person to carry them. Three people shared a bag of rice. Two people carried a bucket of oil. The remaining two students carried the chilies, onions, and other supplies.
From the township police station to the village of Taungche Minlan in the middle of the Yoma Valley, we had to walk for more than () miles through fields. It was mid-March and the sun was very hot. There were only shade trees near the Kala villages on the road.
The whole way, I looked up and saw the fields after harvesting. There were many. The sun was overhead, but I turned west and faced the great Yoma Mountains, which were so dark that my eyes felt cold.
