When Comin's mind was not clear when he went to bed , he suddenly couldn't think of where he was and why he was there. . .
So he got up, walked to the window, and looked outside. When he saw the views of Tokyo and the 'Hibiya Garden' outside, he remembered that he was in a large hotel in Tokyo, Japan.
He also thought about the reason he was in Japan because of his son, "Paulie."
His beloved son, "Paul is dead, and there's no way he can bring him back to life."
"Comin' looked at his watch and saw that it was already eight o'clock. If so, he must have slept quite late."
When he heard the sound of a typewriter from the living room outside , he knew that his secretary, a drunk woman named Zhenli, was already working. The man had brought his secretary with him to work while he was traveling from the United States to Japan.
When ' Kormin ' came out to the outer living room after washing his face and hands, he saw the secretary ' Finli ' answering the phone. At that moment, ' Kormin 's earlier depression seemed to ease a little.
Secretary Finley seemed to be talking on the telephone with a reporter.
-As I said earlier, Mr. Commons has no plans to accept interviews with reporters. He is in Japan now to research information for a new book he is writing. I am not at liberty to say what the book will be about. I am sorry.
After interrupting the conversation with the man, Secretary ' Zhenli ' hung up the phone and said, "Speak to Ming again."
"I'm surprised. I don't know how the journalists know. They already know you're in Tokyo."
"That's because Japanese journalists are very clever and have a good sense of smell. They always check the passenger lists of all flights that come into Japan. So they know who has arrived in Japan. It's a bit late to call them after we arrived here."
As he spoke, "Comin" glanced at a telegram on the table. The telegram was from his agent Max in New York, USA, and read as follows:
"You're going to lose fifty thousand dollars because you left out of your mind. Leaving without a reason is unforgivable."
(Note: In Western countries, artists and writers often have agents or representatives to take charge of their financial affairs, make contacts, and sign contracts. This telegraphist, Max, is the representative of the writer Comyn.)
At that moment, there was a knock on the door from outside, and Secretary Finley opened it. A Japanese waiter came in and brought breakfast.
"Finley pointed to the letters on the table..."
"I'll read these letters calmly after breakfast," he said.
"I think the letters are bad news," said Common, eating fried eggs.
"Yes, sir, the letters are full of bad news. Your publisher is furious that you haven't approved the 'Galileo' drafts of your book, and he can't continue working on them. "Max also said that you've had to cancel a series of lectures you've been accepted to give, which is causing a big problem. He also said that you'd better go to Hollywood yourself about a novel that's being made into a movie."
Secretary Finley was talking about news from the United States, but “the Commons didn’t seem interested….”
" Have you had any further contact from ' Mitsu ' this morning?" he asked.
(Note: Mitsuu is a Japanese freelance detective hired by the Komin. In particular, Mitsuu is tasked with finding a girl named Suzuki whom the Komin wants to meet.) "I haven't been contacted yet..
"How could you get it so quickly? There must be hundreds of thousands of girls named 'Suzuki' in this 'Tokyo' city, right?"
"' Aye-That's right. Now..you drink coffee too. What did you have for breakfast?"
"Yes, I've played early. But let me tell you something personal."
"Tell me, tell me. I appointed you as secretary for this very reason, right?"
"Among the letters that arrived today, there was also a letter from your wife, Harpobe."
(Phoebe is the ex-wife of 'Kaw Khin' and divorced. She is also the mother of the deceased son "Paul", who is now being investigated by ' Kaw Min '.)
"Yes..what did he write in the letter?"
He said, "Don't continue with your investigation."
"You won't get anything out of it just by asking for it."
When Finley said this, ' Cormin suddenly said nothing - he was thinking while eating fried duck eggs. In his mind, he was surprised that his ex-wife Bee would write this. She had divorced Cormin and was now married to a banker named Mason.
“Phoebe is now in her forties and fifties. It is interesting to note that after her son Paul died, Phoebe wrote to tell him not to investigate further, as she had been following the trail of “Comin” for years.
While drinking coffee, Comin asked Secretary Finley about his feelings.
"What do you think? Do you think I should give up on my current investigation?"
"Paul is dead, isn't he?" - "Yes, he is."
"I understand that you are unhappy and unable to accept your son's death."
"I accept the death. I can't accept it. My son Paul is dead. I saw the body buried. Leave that aside, just ask me what I'm asking. Should I stop investigating Paul's death now? Should I go back to America?"
“If you continue to investigate , it will definitely cost you a lot of money.”
"This is irrelevant. Just answer my question. What is your opinion?"
When 'Comin' asked insistently, Secretary Finley was thinking about herself. She had worked as 'Comin's secretary for ten years and was already close to him. However, she had always been more than a secretary in her dealings with 'Comin.' Now, ' Comin ' was asking for advice on a personal matter, and Finley suddenly found it difficult to answer. * Nevertheless, she decided to give advice openly.
