"Uncle, would you like to play a game with me for one kyat?"
The author has been fond of playing English chess since he was a child. It was his father who taught him how to play chess. His father was a great lover of chess. Therefore, the author, who is the son of his father, would stop by and watch a chess game whenever he saw a chess game.
It was recently.
I entered a tiger ring in front of Lwin Lwin Cafe, the headquarters of the car brokers in downtown Yangon, on the corner of Maha Bandula Road and (38) Street. This was a place where “tiger bosses” gathered and bet on tigers for one kyat per game. That day, I heard a big “tiger boss” who used to beat everyone who came by giving him a tiger on his side and winning the tiger fight, and a 13-year-old boy talking about the above.
"Ah, you guys are not good enough to compete with me," replied the tiger commander, "but you want knowledge, just one or two games."
The stubborn boy insisted, but the tiger captain refused. So the tiger captain, as usual, removed one of the 12 tigers on his side. He gave it to the boy. The boy disagreed,
'It's okay, uncle, I'm just getting an education, don't give me a piece of my mind.'
The game began. The tiger captain made a good choice and played. He fed one and ate two. He fed two and ate three. | He fed three and got “King”. The tiger captain won the game. He received one kyat from the boy. . . 'Are you going to play?' the tiger captain asked. 'I will play three games, sir,' the boy replied.
They played three games that day. However, in the second game, the boy didn't understand how the game was played. After feeding the tiger captain two, the boy took a "king". He made another game and took another "king". The tiger captain lost that game. In the next game, the tiger captain was just as tired. He beat the tiger captain three games in one. He was a very good captain.
While writing the book "Ekryi Suphaya", the author remembered the incident of the boy in the car dealership and the tiger captain. Are the Queen of the White Elephant and the King of Kings from the Yadanarbon Palace different from the "tiger captain"? Is the Queen of King Thibaw, Suphaya Lat, different from the boy who was a tiger fighter?
At first, the White Elephant Queen and the King of Kings thought of feeding two elephants and taking the throne. King Thibaw on the golden throne of the Yadanarbon
and Suphaya Latt and control the power of the state. However, ideas and reality are sometimes contradictory.
As always, the plan of the White Elephant and the Old Man failed. Queen Suphaya Latt seized the throne and ruled the kingdom for (7) years. The White Elephant and the King of the King lost three games and one game. They did not have a single “King” child.
The author tried to write this book because he wanted to present the story of a woman named Suphaya Latt from the author's perspective in relation to this incident. A woman is a woman, isn't she? Therefore, let's try to see the female spirit, female behavior, nature, and Suphaya Latt's 'style'. If Suphaya Latt's style is not clearly visible, it will be the author's weakness.
Looking back on the era of a woman who wielded a sword, there are many things to be proud of, lessons to be learned, and things to ponder.
Examples of people who have gone astray because of their intoxication with power, reckless actions in life by victims of greed, anger, and ignorance, and selfish behaviors, etc.
I would like to thank the literary friends who gave me advice and helped me find the book titles while writing this book. I would like to thank the author for his research on historical information to help me write this book.
Special thanks to the narrators, Master Zeya and Master Myint Swe, researcher and writer Myint Htun, painter U San Toe, Chaung Son Ohn Thwin, literary enthusiast U Ba Thaw (23rd Street), and Tin Maung Swe (Wan Tha Nu Bookstore) who helped lend books.
(They say that the wheel of history always turns once. The great wheel of Myanmar history turns no matter how many times it turns. If the "old people" can reflect on the mistakes made by the "old people" so that the "new people" will not make the same mistakes, then the writer will be very happy.

1. A bloody page of history
Nay Pyi Taw, the jewel of Mandalay, is reeling from the news of the tragedy. The people, artisans, and traders around Nay Pyi Taw do not seem to be moving around as usual.
Their faces looked as if they were frightened, anxious, and terrified by some event. What were they frightened of, what were they afraid of, why were they so agitated...
In fact, at that time, there should have been a peaceful celebration and festivities in Nay Pyi Taw. How long has it been since King Thibaw, who succeeded his father as king, had held a coronation ceremony? It would only be a few months since the young king, who had been warmly welcomed to the throne, had ascended the throne with his beloved queen.
Is it because Ranaw Maung Maung Tok, who was not a descendant of the royal family, who was also a nurse and a student of the king, a playmate, and a salesman, was given the title of prince, surrounded by insignia, titles, medals, and concubines, and lived well and well? Since Ranaw Maung Maung Tok was given the title of prince, those who were comfortable with the king, those who were suitable for the new queen, those who sat next to the queen mother, the white elephant, the servants, the junior ministers, were also adorned with various ranks. They were receiving various privileges. They were increasing their positions with great gifts and gifts.
The king, who had worked tirelessly to install the new king, was given the position of gunner, which was to lead the armed forces, as a bonus, while all the junior ministers and officials were enjoying themselves with the festive atmosphere.
While those close to the king, those with high positions, ministers, civil servants, generals, and army officers are all rejoicing and enjoying themselves, why are the common people, the workers, and those who “should move their hands and mouths” in Nay Pyi Taw worried, worried, and terrified? If you have a question, you will find an answer.
Haven't you heard, the sons and daughters of the late King Mindon, his relatives, more than forty princes, and their descendants, a total of about eighty, are about to be cut down to nothing but reed stumps.
Indeed, the news may be shocking, it may be terrifying. But it is not surprising news. The people had already understood this when the princes and princesses were first arrested and imprisoned by the White Elephant Queen and her ministers. “The princes and princesses will definitely go straight to the Kaw Ma Bay Road.”
Therefore, the news of the arrested princes was not a new thing at first. The news of the young princes was “whispered” in the market, in the temple, at the well, and from house to house. They whispered and asked each other in awe. But no one could have guessed that it would be so urgent.
In the past, news was just 'local news'. Whenever people gathered in a place, the news that the locals would tell would be local news. Since it was local news, it could be true or not. It could be false or false. It was sometimes half right and half wrong. There was no guarantee, but...
One thing is that "local news" has now been given a status. It is not just "news, bad news" that ordinary people in the area say without hesitation. It is official news leaked from the servants of King Thibaw... It is now real news that has been smuggled out from a trusted source.
"The children of the late King Mindon were executed at night in the palace..."
Originally, the news was top secret. But, as they say, “Secrecy is the beginning of leaks.” Who could keep this news secret, royal servants, courtiers, and young men? How could they keep it secret? How could they keep it secret? How could they keep it secret?
If asked, the answer is obvious. Secret information will be leaked even if it is kept secret. They say, "The king has a thousand ears." So, "The people have ten thousand ears. One hundred thousand. The king is only one, and the people have a thousand and a hundred thousand. If the king does not want to know everything the people do, then he will stay. The king will form a small circle and consult with the nobles, and the people will surely know one day. .
Just like that, the news that the princes were going to be executed en masse spread among the people. It was difficult at first. Couldn't they save the princes from death? They were going to drown in the shallows. They were going to die young and old. The children of the great blood were going to lose their lives for no reason. .
"Useless and unjust" is the view of the people. In fact, from the perspective of the new king and queen Suphaya Latt, if those princes were still alive, the country would be unstable. The provinces would be unstable. The princes would take up arms and rebel, causing hardship and misery among the people.
Let's just carve out the issue that needs to be carved with a needle. The princes and their families are still in custody, and it will be better if they are executed quickly. Only then will the people's lives be peaceful and prosperous. The throne will also be safe from rebels, right?
It is also a matter of concern that the new King Thibaw and Queen Suphaya Latt will be worried and worried. During the reign of the late King Mindon, Myungkun and Myungkungdaing rebelled, and the palace was set on fire. The whole country was in a state of panic and chaos. Many people died along with his uncle, King Kanaung. Then Prince Panchak and his companions rebelled again.
The whole country is in a state of panic because of the rebellion, they cannot eat well, they cannot sleep well, they have to share their sorrows. And the Nyaung Puk and Nyaung Ran Prince Nyinaung are also in a state of shock. When the princes were arrested, they took refuge in the British embassy. Now they are fleeing to the British territory. If they do not remain calm and fight the rebellion, it will be difficult for them to contact the captured princes.
To prevent this from happening, we should quickly remove the spirits of the Thousand-Fang and the Princes, and then we will be cool.

Even so, the news spread throughout Nay Pyi Taw, causing a stir among the people. They were shocked and saddened. Those who did not want to accept it clenched their fists. They gritted their teeth. They shouted "Ak" loudly. However, they were too weak to be proud.
The royal officials, the high and low officials, and the low and high officials all tried their best to control the situation in Nay Pyi Taw.
Even before the night of the execution of the princes, they planned to hold a festival, a play, a dance, and a puppet show all over Nay Pyi Taw. The city governors and tax collectors arranged it, the elders carried it out, the heads of ten households obeyed, a festival was held in every ward, and a play was performed at every crossroads. They wrote, sang, and danced stories depicting the glorious fortunes of the King and Queen, their victories over their enemies, and the prosperity of the kingdom. His Majesty the King ordered...
'The order is to obey. The city officials and tax collectors are busy. The chief and the heads of the ten households are also not resting. They have to find a play, call the An-Ein, and arrange a puppet show. Those who cannot find a play, An-Ein, or a puppet show, gather as many people as they can in the area and arrange it in such a way that if they can do it, they can do it, if they dare to go on stage, they can do it, if they can win the show, it's great.
However, the fair, the street fair, the drama, the dance, the melodious dance, were not enough to save the troubled Nay Pyi Taw. They could not mobilize the depressed people. The fairs at the crossroads and the streets were not crowded with spectators. The Monkey Festival was the most crowded festival. People closed their shops early. The doors of the small houses and huts were closed before sunset.
There were no children playing and running around in the middle of the street as usual. The shadows in the twilight
Even the voices of the gypsies who used to go home humming a song after taking shelter are silent. The voices of the villagers who used to spend their time walking around the house, making noise and making noise, and then returning home with a loud song after spending time making noise, are not heard. The sounds of the gypsies in the festivals and plays are not heard. The hearts of the people are not in the festivals, not in the plays.
Behind the closed doors of the shacks are the people. They are whispering to each other or to their neighbors, quietly opening their back windows.
"Tonight, the sons of the deceased king will be executed. There are many princes, princesses, and their descendants. They will have to be executed for three nights. They said they would execute them all because they were afraid that the princes would rebel. How could they not? One creature has one destiny."
Buddhists, in the end, if there is nothing you can do, just let go of karma and calm down. If you can calm down like this, the pain inside will be relieved. Those who are trembling and trembling in their hearts will be able to calm down.
"Oh, what does this have to do with the people? It has nothing to do with us. Isn't it a power struggle between their kings and queens and royal families...? If you stay, the breeze will be nice..."
There are those who see it that way. It's not easy to deny their words. In fact, it's hard to say that the issue is directly related to the people.
When King Mindon was about to die, almost all of his sons and daughters were arrested by order of Queen Sinphyu Ma Shin. The King and the ministers gave the green light to the arrest. Then, Queen Mindon declared the young Prince Thibaw, who was having an affair with Suphaya Latt, the daughter of Queen Sinphyu Ma Shin, as the crown prince.
When King Mindon died, Prince Thibaw seized the throne of Konbaung and ruled. Suphaya Lat, the daughter of Queen Sinphyu Ma Shin, became King Thibaw's queen. Then, fearing that the throne would be in danger, he planned to execute the princes and princesses.
Now... think about it with a little bit of common sense. What is the connection between the people's affairs and the power struggle within the palace?
Yes. It is not directly related. However, if the front of the house is hot, will the back of the house be happy? No one can be unhappy when they hear and see what is not right, and there is something to think about. The state affairs are not very stable in Nagorno-Karabakh, and the British colonial government, which has seized the land to the middle of the country, is also keeping an eye on Upper Myanmar. If there are inappropriate scenes in Nay Pyi Taw, wouldn't it be difficult for the colonial wolf to find various faults and come and kill the lamb?
And look at the long distance. Will the "king" who brutally killed half-brothers, half-sisters, and even close relatives for the sake of a little 'plum leaf' of power, rule with compassion and kindness towards the people like a son? Will he rule in accordance with the ten precepts of kingship? If the king had no compassion for the people, would the junior ministers and high officials still support the people...
Those who are able to look at the cause with compassion and empathy can do nothing but think and compare. Who can interfere with the decision of the King and Queen Suphayalat? Your words are like lightning. An elephant that has already left cannot be returned. Therefore, if you do not try to block the lightning with your palm, you will suffer in vain.

February 15, 1879, was the last day for the children and descendants of King Mindon to live in this world. As the sun set, the orchestra began to play a special performance in the auditorium. The King and Queen were to witness the performance themselves, so the ministers, the ministers, and the
The palace servants, the courtiers, their families, and their teams all came to the festival without fail.
At the banquet, they were seated according to rank, with the junior ministers at the back and the senior ministers at the front. The senior ministers and their wives, who were seated in the front, had to nod their heads and show their faces to show the king and queen that they had come to the banquet without fail. The junior ministers and their wives at the back did not have that opportunity. So, "Should we kneel down and show our faces to the king and queen, or should we stand up and show them, how would they see us?" they were all thinking and pondering.
At that moment, the king and queen arrived.
The audience was in a state of agitation. They were not allowed to bow to the King and Queen, but they bowed their heads and bowed to the ten thousand scepters. The King and Queen walked in stately and majestically to the place specially reserved for them. •
The King and Queen, seated in a hall adorned with gold, silver, and rubies, faced the stage. At that moment, the Grand Vizier, from the stage, began to play a piece of music in a melodious and melodious manner.
Queen Suphaya Latt glanced at the audience who had arrived at the stage. Then, lighting a large cigarette, she turned towards the stage. Is the queen's mind still on the stage, or what is she thinking about, what is she thinking about, what is she remembering...
Even the queen herself would know.
It was late at night. As the sound of the gongs, drums, cymbals, and cymbals played, one of the actors sang a song about the king's honor in a triumphant voice. Along with his voice, another voice came faintly. It must have been the last cry of a dying prince from the massacre taking place in the palace garden.
At that moment, King Thibaw heard a prince's shout. The king turned his head and looked up without realizing it.
"Brother, please enjoy the festivities."
"It was the voice of Suphaya Latt, speaking calmly. But it sounded like an order..."
The King started as if he had been awakened from a bad dream. He turned to look at the Queen. Then, not knowing what had happened, he turned his face away from the Queen. It would be better not to think about anything. That way, he would be able to enjoy himself for a moment. Is that what the King was thinking? Queen Suphaya Latt continued to watch the feast while puffing on a large cigarette. There was a smile on her face, as if she was satisfied with something.
In fact, as a victor, Queen Suphaya Latt would be able to smile beautifully.... The brave Prince Makkharaya, who would one day hold her throne, and the thirty princes who were said to be rich in knowledge and wisdom, had already ended their feuds with these princes.... How could a match like this make a woman happy? The queen smiled contentedly. She was also smiling contentedly.
At that time... somewhere in the palace... the princes and their children of King Mindon were being executed by the officers. The task of pulling the princes' hair, raising their heads, and hitting their throats with a short stick was not a difficult task... However, the task of killing people in cold blood and brutally was not easy. It was a difficult task even for the extremely cruel officers.
What to do? He gave the power brokers alcohol to drink. While the king was trying to overcome the terrifying times... At that time, the power brokers were also taking sips of alcohol from bamboo flutes and hitting the necks of the princes with short sticks one after another. .
The "blood" of the great king should not fall on the ground.... So... After being beaten with a short stick, the bodies of all the princes and princes were put in red velvet bags. Then they were thrown into a prepared pit.
Princes and princesses were killed with one or two blows. Some were silenced after three or four blows. Some were beaten five or six times and struggled. Anyway, they threw them all into the pit. Then they stood on top and dug the earth. They made the earth fall down with the elephants on top. The two of them continued their journey to the other side while fighting in the pit...
The dances in the palace lasted for three nights. There was a lot of music. There was a lot of dancing. King Thibaw also... He spent three nights watching the show. Queen Suphaya Lat lit a large cigarette and looked around the show, listening to the cries of the dying princes as the winter wind carried them away. Time passed.
The King and Queen themselves watched the feast without missing a beat for three nights, so how could the ministers, ministers, and other officials miss it? The whole family watched the feast for three nights, all in a row.
From the stage, along with the sound of drums and brass instruments, the voices of the performers, their singing and dancing, echoed outside the gates of the Golden Palace. However, the cries of the dying princes and their families could not be heard outside the palace... Their voices could not overpower the noisy drums, cymbals, and cymbals... They could not penetrate.
And so... the great massacre in the palace that began on February 15, 1879, ended after three nights. As mentioned above, in order to prevent the blood of the princes and their families from falling to the ground, the 'necks' were beaten with short sticks, placed in large velvet bags, and buried in a large pit.
In the matter of sending so many people on a long journey to the afterlife, can they ensure that not a single drop of the 'blood' of the great great blood falls to the ground...? You may ask. If you are asked that question, how can you answer...? In fact, without proper records, you cannot answer with certainty.
One thing is certain: The “bloodstained page of history” can never be erased by the brutal execution of a total of eighty princes and their descendants.
