Chapter - 1

Creative thinking

A philosopher said that humans tend to visualize and analyze all the big and small issues related to their life's progress in their imagination.

Another philosopher said that the hopes and desires in the human soul are primarily shaped by physical perfection.

This chapter describes Andrew Carnegie's personal observations in 1908.

During that time, the author, "Napoleon Hay," was part student and part journalist, and I would like to share with you the following conversation that took place with Andrew Carnegie.

Hey.. “Mr. Carnegie, you said that creative thinking is a fundamental principle for personal growth and success. So I want you to analyze those principles and explain which of them should be applied in practice.”

Carnegie: First of all, we need to try to understand the true meaning of the word "creative thinking."

“In fact, creative thinking doesn't just mean imagining things, but also recognizing opportunities and wanting to do things that will benefit others.

If you clearly understand creative thinking, you will understand that an important part of creative thinking is “putting ideas into practice.”

"Imagination" can be studied in two basic ways.

One is the imagination that involves imitation and the other is the imagination that involves creativity (the ability to implement with one's own intelligence). The imagination that involves imitation and creativity often includes the ability to recognize ideas, accept and acknowledge ideas, develop good plans, evaluate and act on information, follow rules and regulations, and welcome new programs.

A creative imagination (an imagination that can be implemented with one's own intelligence) already has the resources to achieve one's own fulfillment.

People who produce creative ideas often possess the qualities of being practical, natural and logical, and accepting and validating after scientific thought.

They also tend to keep the things they want to implement in their subconscious minds alive.

Sometimes they have abilities that go beyond the limits of the scientific world. So they have the ability to think differently, to interpret new ideas correctly, and to implement them in practice. I believe that creative thinking is only possible if you have a creative imagination.

Hey.. “So which of the two forms of imagination should ordinary people use, and which should business people use?”

Carnegie: “Imagination, which is the faculty of imitation, is used by the greatest number of people of any class. Imagination, which is the faculty of originality, is used by the few who wish to put the extraordinary skills they have acquired into practical use.”

Hey.. “By your example, do you mean that both types of ideas should be used to their advantage? If there were rules for each type of idea, would it be possible to achieve a common understanding?” Carnegie.. “Well, let’s take a look at Thomas Edison’s achievements. If we look at Thomas Edison’s achievements, we will see clearly how he used both types of ideas.

However, the type of imagination that Thomas Edison often used was the form of imagination that involved imitation.

“Edison was a man of extraordinary ability who combined both an inventive and a creative imagination.

Edison was a man who put both ideas into practice, and his first electric light bulb captured the attention of people all over the world. In fact, Mr. Edison combined more than ten thousand ideas that were not his own to make his invention a success.”

Hey.. “So let me ask you something, Mr. Carnegie... Are you saying that Mr. Edison failed ten thousand times because he didn't like ten thousand of his ideas?”

Carnegie: “Yes, that’s what I mean.”

People who want to succeed try to solve the problems they face by bringing out their ideas one by one.

Edison did what he believed in... to be the best. There were two kinds of principles that he had. Principles that came from his own imagination.

The first principle is to use the two ends of a wire to generate electrical energy, and then, when it heats up, it tries to emit light through it.

The second principle is to find a solution to how to control the heat that produces light.
