The heart of leaders
(Ken Blanchard and Spencer Johnson)
Catching people doing what they do right is a powerful management principle. Unfortunately, many leaders are adept at catching people doing what they do wrong. I always encourage leaders to spend at least an hour a week walking around their workplace and observing what people are actually doing.
(Ken Blanchard and Robert Lorber)
An effective leader prioritizes helping his people achieve results and often helps in two ways.
(1) Making sure they understand their goals and objectives,
(2) Support, encourage, and guide to achieve those goals.
(3) Praise progress. There will be more improvements.
(Ken Blanchard, Thad Lacinak,
(Chuck Tompkins, and Jim Ballard).
When a good performance is followed by a positive response, people naturally want to continue that behavior. Here, I want to emphasize and urge you not to wait until a specific, correct behavior occurs before you respond positively. If you wait like that, you will be waiting your whole life.
