The north wind, the gentle breeze, the moon that comes...

A month of snow, a month of shivering, a month of cold... A month of brown marigolds, a month of sweet fragrance, a month of gentle fragrance...

As the day faded and night approached, a line of cars, big and small, drove down the New Civil Lines Road, the affluent neighborhood of the wealthy in eastern Mandalay. In front of a brightly lit courtyard, the luxury cars that had just arrived took up positions on either side of the road, and amidst the hustle and bustle of people getting out of their cars and waiting guests, the honking of the horns of the other cars, demanding space, was also heard.

It looked very grand and very fun. From the top of the flagpole in front of the entrance to the first floor of the building, all the way to the two sides of the courtyard, there were colorful lanterns.

Below, the neatly trimmed lawn resembles a large, green, silk-covered pavilion. Above that large lawn, red, green, yellow, and Buddha's garden flowers are spread out in a neat, orderly pattern between the banquet tables that have been set up, opening and blooming like a flower bed.

A table was set for five guests, with a mix of dahlias and large roses.

A porcelain vase, a glass bowl filled with ice water, amber glass cups, small handkerchiefs made of pressed paper, 555 tin cans, and a spare lighter are all suitable. A well-dressed and well-groomed guest

If someone comes, they are waiting for you at the gate.

The young and old, the young and the children, the journey begins, and they go to the empty place.

He took it. Then he put a big plate of rice on it for him.

A plate of chicken coconut milk noodles, spoons, forks, a cold cup of ice cream, hot coffee, and a variety of cakes, all served with a variety of fruits.

The darker the night grew, the more crowded the audience became, and the more colorful the lights became, with the silk, satin, and other colorful lights.

It became bright. Once again, when the urine, fog, and cigarette smoke began to swirl, the surroundings became hazy and misty.

"Come, come, come," the invitations.

Greetings like, "Uncle, you're late. Why didn't you come pick me up?"

"Huh... I was waiting for him to come and pick me up. He's the one who's going to do this."

Amidst the din of complaints, "Come early, we'll have to dance," the occasional wedding song from a band in the corner of the yard would still make its way through.

The only sound that occasionally breaks through all the noise is the gentle, graceful sound of a cymbal, which is played in a distant voice.

One of the traditional and modern gatherings of the Burmese people is the “Alms Offering Ceremony for the Nine Buddhas”. However, it is quite difficult to know whether it is a routine event or a religious act that must be performed according to Buddhist law. The time for offering alms and sweets to the Buddha is from dawn to dusk, but from the early evening until the early hours of the morning, various kinds of bread, beans, and fruits are beautifully prepared in front of the Buddha, and people sing, play, laugh, dance, and eat and drink in front of the Buddha. It is quite strange to remember.

Moreover, the meaning of preparing a hall for the nine Buddhas and the celestial kings and deities, and inviting them to offer offerings even earlier than the gods, is also quite profound. In today's era, when Buddhism, Hindu gods, and Hindu castes are still mixed, it is quite interesting to research the origin of such a thoughtful offering.

If one does not make such offerings and offerings to the Buddha, one would not be a Buddhist. Fifty shillings for the Buddha, one hundred shillings for the gods and spirits, and five hundred shillings for everyone to enjoy themselves, eat and drink, play music, and enjoy their senses. For those who do not have the opportunity to attend this festival, which is often held in a competitive manner, it is also considered that one would not be a Buddhist.

Among the Buddhists who are unable to offer even a spoonful of alms, a handful of alms, and a Buddha image, those who are able to make such a unique and outstanding offering are worthy of praise and merit.

In fact, this festival is quite popular. When people want to discuss matters such as children, daughters, and marriage, they prefer this festival. When they want to discuss some political issue that they should not do openly or dare not do, they also hold this festival and gather people. They can also bargain for bribes and business transactions at this festival. They can also go to the temple and talk about it. They can also freely exchange various opinions on why which military officer is naked, who is wearing what kind of clothes, who will get what position if they are married, etc.

Even more so, at the Buddhist Pagoda Festival for the upper class, the guests were later invited to a private room, so it was a grand affair.

A drinking party was held. Since there were still many people, they could listen to the chanting of the Buddha's nine monks and the sound of the brass drums.

But it's still good. Compared to social gatherings where men and women sit side by side, hugging each other, and playing around, Burmese culture is -

There is reason to believe that it is acceptable as a social gathering. Therefore, it can be said that the offering of the nine Buddha statues has become quite popular among the upper class, who are somewhat reserved.

"Huh... Captain, the Captain is so rude that he's wearing civilian clothes. Heh... heh... come on... Captain, let's go inside first."

A young man with a lively face greeted him at the gate of the courtyard, and Captain Bashaw smiled back and followed him towards the mansion. He held two large Waso candles in one hand and a square paper box of cheesecake in the other.
