1. If you have love for the general

Broadcast speech, July 21, 1947

The country is aware that our generals and comrades, Thakin Mya, U Ba Cho Mahn Ba Khaing, Mong Poon Saw Bwa Gyi, Master U Razak, and U Ba Win, have fallen at the hands of the enemy. I have long since spoken out to the country about this matter. But my mind is clouded and I do not want to talk too much, so I have taken the time to do so.

It would be extremely regrettable for all those who wanted independence to see the great leaders of the entire country fall at a time when the Burmese struggle for independence was in full swing. If that happened, it would be right.

The whole country knows about the General very well. I don't need to say more. But I want to say a little. The General's pure intentions and steadfast integrity have brought the whole country together in a way that we have never experienced before in our lives.

The Shan, Chin, Kachin and other hill tribes became more united with the Burmese due to the General’s influence than at other times. The Karen people, on the other hand, began to trust the General personally and became more united with the Burmese. There is no need to talk about the Burmese people. The people and the General, and the General and the people, were inseparable. In fact, these wicked people plotted to kill the General so that they could not be separated. To this extent, the whole country was mobilized by stealing the General’s influence. If we look back over the entire history of Burma, which is more than 200 years old, the Burmese were united like this only four times: (1) during the reign of King Anawrahta Saw, (2) during the reign of King Bayinnaung, (3) during the reign of King Alaungpagod, and (4) during the reign of King Sinphyu Shin Min.

Comrade Thakin Mya is honest, loyal, upright, and kind-hearted, and the country knows his qualities. But there are some things that only his relatives know and the country does not know well. Thakin Mya is the one who calmly considers and decides on every issue that arises among us. Generals, although we are rarely in a hurry, Thakin Mya is never in a hurry. So, if there is an important decision to be made, Thakin Mya nods his head and the decision is made. Even if Thakin Mya nods his head like this, our decision is not too difficult. We ourselves believe that it is impossible to be critical. Thakin Mya may appear calm and gentle, but no matter how tough the decision is, there is no decision that Thakin Mya cannot disobey.

U Ba Cho has been my teacher since I was in college. Because of me, a group of our comrades, including the general, have always regarded U Ba Cho as a teacher and have always called him "Teacher". Although Saya Cho was in poor health and was quite weak, he was very attached to our students and participated in all our efforts in one way or another. There is nothing else that I can rely on most. When it comes to explaining the ins and outs of Burmese politics, he can explain things in a different way. He is reliable and right.

Among the Karen people, Mahn Ba Khine is the most trusted and reliable Karen leader, along with the General. The General has often stated in every executive meeting of the PF, S, P, L that if the government is formed after independence, he will appoint Mahn Ba Khine as the Deputy Prime Minister. The whole country knows that the General is not a person who speaks ill of anyone without any sincerity. So, the reason why he often expresses this opinion is because of how much respect, how much sincerity, and how much trust he has for Mahn Ba Khine. If Mahn Ba Khine has something to say, he is a man who speaks ill of others, so he is very close to the General who likes to speak ill of others. He also has a broad vision of the future of Karen Burma, and he always acts honestly and without any fear or self-interest.

The Mong Poon Saw Bwa has been a very close friend of mine since we married in Japan. He is not only a person who is particularly interested in the unity of Shan and Burma, but also a person who has worked tirelessly to make it happen. Because of the Saw Bwa's good attitude and integrity, he is also a person who has received the greatest respect from the Shan people.

As for Master Razak, most of the young people who worked tirelessly in the political revolution in Mandalay were his students. Master Razak was one of the most loyal people to the P, S, P, and L.

U Ba Win has been my classmate since we were in college. Because of his integrity in politics, I was the one who suggested that he be appointed to the ministerial position he had worked for, and when I met the general in May, I was the one who suggested it.

Our general and our comrades, who were endowed with such qualities, have now fallen like birds into the hands of the enemy. We have only controlled our minds. Our hearts are trembling. There is no other reason for controlling our minds. If we want to lead Burma to the great goal along the path taken by the general and our comrades, who are close to reaching the goal, we must control our minds. If we want to march without losing sight of that great goal, we must control our minds. If we want to march with that great goal in mind, we must control our minds.

If we love the General, if we are loyal to the General, we will finish the great work that the General himself could not finish. There is no other way to have new love for the General and the comrades who died with him. I, along with the newly formed members of the F, S, P, and L executive committees, have sworn an oath to finish the great work that our General and our comrades could not finish, to the end, and to strive with all our might. The country and the people, the fallen comrades and the General, should strive as hard as they did when they were alive. We should not let ethnic riots and They should also take special care to prevent disorderly and unruly riots.

We, the loyal comrades of the General, pledge once again to the Shan, Chin, Kachin, Karen, and other people who are our blood brothers and sisters, that we will work hard to implement the generosity that the General himself has shown in relation to the Shan, Chin, Karen, and Kachin people without any hesitation. Let us, the brothers and sisters, continue to work together in unity for the great cause of independence, just as we did when the General was there. As the saying goes, “If the ox is divided, the tiger will be eaten,” if we are divided, we will be destroyed. So let us not live in a life of destruction and quickly reach the great goal of independence that we all love. Let us continue to march forward in unity and harmony.
