Literary discussion
Dear literary workers,
Today, I had to drink water before speaking. Because there was a literary person in the audience in front of me.
There are big elephants in the world. The questions that were asked to me in front of those big elephants are many. While answering them, I will discuss and present the problems related to our literature. When discussing such things, it is not easy to present them in front of young people. That is why I am nervous. I have just started talking, and the loudspeaker has become a source of anxiety. So, if today's discussion is inconvenient, I apologize in advance.
We invited the questions. After inviting them, I told the organizer, organizer, manager, and sponsor, Maung Shara, to arrange for them to be available a day in advance. He also tried his best to arrange for the questions in advance. Yesterday, I received 8 questions in advance. I didn’t get them in my hands. I got them from him. I went to get them this morning and arranged them as I liked. I also prepared as much as I could to answer and say. I did this as I liked, and I didn’t answer 2 of the 8 questions because there wasn’t much to answer. I will also explain the reason for not answering. I arranged the remaining 6 as I liked. I estimate that it will take more than an hour for the 6 questions. I have already stolen an hour. Teacher Ko Tai Soe said. From one hour to four, he charged 3 kyats for 3 hours. Now that half an hour has passed, he has lost 50 kyats. Ko Tai Soe, don’t cut these 50 kyats today.
The 2 questions I don't want to answer are:
1. Maung Myint Thein
Fourth year of Burmese,
Wa/Sa University, Yangon.
Which is more effective on readers, a novel or a short story? I was asked why.
2. Takthol Thulin
21st Street, Latha Township.
It's a very strange name. Not anyone's husband, but her husband.
Are comics more effective than cartoons? Are cartoons more effective than comics?
In my opinion, contrasting short stories and novels in a different way is unacceptable. They have their own benefits. It is impossible to say which one is more beneficial. Therefore, I cannot answer this question.
Another thing is that they have asked us to compare and contrast comic books and cartoons. They asked us which one is more effective. I don't want to compete on which one is more effective. I can't answer that by comparing.
Now, of the remaining 6 questions, I think I want to answer the most and I think I should answer it first. As we move forward and discuss, I will read out the first question, which I think will be more clear and concise if we discuss it in this way.
Maung Thein Lwin
History major,
Third year, University of Wa/Sa, Yangon.
What is the topic you want to discuss?
What is your opinion on contemporary literature?
Literary writing style.
Political standard.
Art style.
This is a question that needs to be discussed.
I chose this question first because it provides a historical background to modern Burmese literature that I will discuss further.
First, some literary figures know my opinion on contemporary literature, while others don't. I'll explain it to you.
First, I will read an excerpt.
"The modern literature is a milestone in the history of Burmese literature."
"Contemporary literature is the historical inspiration of Burmese literature."
"Modern literature is the beacon of Burmese literature"
The one who raised that slogan was not U Pe Maung Tin. It was the Bagan Bookstore.
I think the Bagan Bookstore has a purpose to sell books. So I think it is more than it should be. Some people have given more space to contemporary literature than it should be. That is why I once asked whether contemporary literature should be considered a historical landmark. It is also not without reason. I am asking this opinion as I felt it from the 1930s to 1933 when contemporary literature began to appear. Currently, when I write als cossoss al$comodo (Literary Autobiography), I study it again. I read books from that era again. I read magazines and classics again. At this time, the belief that the historical landmark of contemporary literature that I mentioned earlier is broken is even stronger. I believe it more. The one I recited earlier ...
