The beginning of the literary journey and life experiences
[1]

November 14, 1975.

Even when you wake up in the morning, the social responsibilities of the day's commute and activities creep into your head.

The first thing I had to do for the day was to go to the movie Mawkun. I had already memorized this in my head before I went to bed last night. In the movie Mawkun, there was a meeting with Than Swe (the writer Thein Kha).

The location of the movie is Kukkai Sasana Yeiktha Street (Hamid Street). The earliest time to meet Ko Than Swe is 10 am. If you go during office hours. Ko Than Swe is an office worker. It's only six o'clock now, so it's still quite early.

A thought came into his head.

Sayar Thein Pe Myint was on Sasanna Yeiktha Road. Then, while I still had some time and the road was busy, I decided to meet Sayar Thein Pe Myint, whom I had not seen for a long time.

With this idea in mind, I left home before seven o'clock. After taking two trains, 14 and 7, I arrived at Sasannayektha Road. It was still early, and the place where Mahasi Sayadaw's Vipassana Retreat was located was quiet and peaceful. The large bamboo trees on either side of the road were not affected by the wind.

Standing alone and calm, they seem like great, mature, and samadhi yogis.

As I left my house, as I was being followed by 14 cars and 7 cars along the way, and as I entered the Sasanna Yeik Thar Road, I kept thinking about Saya Thein Pe Myint over and over again.

Among these thoughts, the one that came to mind the most was the activities of the Myanmar Writers' Association (1957-58), a period when Saya Thein Pe Myint served as its president for the second time.

In fact, even though we were fellow writers, in the early days, I was not close to Saya Thein Pe Myint. When they met, they would only smile and greet each other. At that time, I did not really know Saya Thein Pe Myint's inner feelings.

Thein Pe Myint, who is known only through word of mouth.

During this time, he became close to Saya Thein Pe Myint. This was because Saya Thein Pe Myint was re-elected as the president of the Myanmar Writers' Association for the second time (1957-58) and he became a member of the executive committee that year.

The 1956-57 annual general meeting of the Myanmar Writers' Association was held at the Sanmeng Tea House on Pagoda Street.

This was reported in the Kyay Mon newspaper, Monday, August 26, 2014, with a photo as follows.

The writer's case

At the annual writers' conference

Speaking

(Yangon, August 25)

At 12:00 today, the Myanmar Writers' Association held its annual conference at the Sun Cake Shop on Pagoda Road in Yangon. The event was attended by U Tha Myat, Director of the Cultural Center, U Gho (Saya Zeya), former Director of the Information Department, U Mya Sein, former Ambassador, and a large number of writers.

In his speech, Chairman U Thein Pe Myint spoke extensively about the need for the Writers' Association to put aside ideological and sectarian sentiments and work solely with a literary spirit.

On behalf of the guests, Saya Zeya gave a detailed account of the history of the Myanmar Writers' Association, which was established despite various difficulties since the Japanese era.

He went.

In addition, for older writers, "they will face hardship one day when they can no longer write because they don't have retirement funds."

He explained in detail that it is a relief that there is an ONA fund for older writers abroad, and that the Myanmar Writers' Association should also have an ONA fund for Myanmar writers.

Then

For the year 1957-58

Chairman U Thein Pe Myint (previous year's chairman), Vice-chairmen Maung Htin, Zawana, Secretary Khin Maung Yi, Associate Daung Nwe Swe, Treasurer Dagon U Hla Bae, Auditor U Hla Thaung.

They elected an executive committee consisting of Moon (Chemical), Aung Lin, Min Aung, Bhawin, University Director Nyunt Oo, Professor, Lin Yone Thit Lwin, and Business Manager Myint Oo as executives.

In fact, the speech delivered by Chairman U Thein Pe Myint and the speech given by Saya Zeya on the issue of writers' salaries are quite detailed. They are quite complete. Saya Zeya seems to be seriously concerned about the issue of writers' salaries and the survival of writers.

The author also remembered an incident he had experienced while listening to Saya Zeya's speech at the meeting.

I think it was around 1949-50. I don't remember exactly.

At that time, I was working as a labor reporter at the Lingyun newspaper.

While writing articles, one day, I went to Pansodan, where the Director of the Information Department, Saya Zeya, had his office, to get my reporter's registration card.
