When you wake up after a dream, you may think, “This is not real, it was just a dream.” This means that the events and situations you experienced in the previous moment were just imaginations, not real or real. What you are experiencing now is real and true.
However, during the moment of dreaming before waking up, those things have the power to make him feel as if they were real, such as shock, joy, etc. The thought of whether it was a dream did not even occur to him. While he was still dreaming, there was no difference between reality and reality for him.
To summarize, it would be fair to say that in the case of something that makes one sad or happy, it doesn't matter whether it is real or not; only the mind's perception is what matters.
Even if one dies in this life and is reborn in another life by a natural process, and remembers the past life (naturally), many people think that they have no idea where they came from. A person who does not think of this world and that world, this life and that life, is likely to think that he has just woken up from a dream.
Since he cannot see his past life up close, he is more likely to assume that those events were just dreams that he imagined in his mind. For him, the events of the past are not real, but only those that he has heard and seen and understood now.
Just as it no longer matters to him whether the events of the past are real or not, for all people, it is not so much whether an event is real or not, but the belief in it in the mind that it is real that is important.
. A former school friend of mine has had a strange and surprising experience in his entire life, so much so that I have been struck by the above words. I have heard hints about him since I was a student, but I did not understand that he was not a "young man" and that he was strange. I did not even think it was necessary to decide whether to believe it or not, so I thoughtlessly and thought about it. However, it was only last month that I received another confirmation that it seemed to be true, so I wrote about it in detail.
The first Buddhist school in Mandalay was called “BT, N” Buddhist School, and in December 1900, Ko Htun Hla and I were among the 10 students who were admitted to sit for the fourth grade government examination. It was first established in the “Beik Kyaung” in the Dakshinawan Takiy, and when these ten students were examined for the fourth grade government examination, all ten of them passed. The Buddhist school became famous overnight.
Among the 10 students, I was the youngest and Ko Htun Hla was the eldest, so there was a difference of at least four or five years in age, but Ko Htun Hla loved me very much and protected me from being bullied by other students according to the “older is better, younger is better” system. In my eyes (until I reached my teenage years), Ko Htun Hla was a “hero” and I often sent love letters from Ko Htun Hla to the girls of the time.
Ko Tun Hla, who was in the third or fourth grade and was a kind-hearted student, was the eldest student. He did not bully the younger students himself. He defended the new students and the younger students who were being bullied, explained the subjects that the teachers did not understand, distributed snacks to the children who did not have enough money, and acted as a mediator in cases of student fights. Therefore, every student respected and admired him. In fact, during the ten years I spent as a student, I had never met a student as kind-hearted and full-hearted as Ko Tun Hla. Ko Tun Hla had a younger brother, who was about two years older than me, and although he was a younger brother, he defended me as a student.
Ko Tun Hla not only has a good heart but also a good memory and is full of insight. It is extraordinary that Ko Tun Hla is the best in our class. Some students who are said to be smart may be better than others in English, but they are only average in Burmese and are weak in arithmetic. Ko Tun Hla (when the senior class arrived) is the best in all six subjects out of the six, and he often beats the other students.
The names of the second-place winners in the six subjects were different, but the first place was always Ko Tun Hla. Ko Tun Hla came first in English Literature, I came second in Burmese Literature, Ko Tun Hla came first, and Ko Su came second. Ko Tun Hla came first in Arithmetic, Maung Ba Khet came second, so all six were winners. Furthermore , the second-place winner's score in one subject was very different from Ko Tun Hla's score . When all subjects were combined, none of the other students scored more than 50 percent , but Ko Tun Hla never fell below 80 percent.
So, Ko Tun Hla was as intelligent as he was ambitious. He had achieved all the grades that a scholarship could give him during his student life.
Every teacher predicted that Ko Htun Hla would definitely grow up, no matter what kind of job he did. And he did grow up as they predicted. He studied “interns” at school and rose through the ranks from a third-grade lawyer to a “High Court Advocate” who passed the examination. If you were to find a lawyer in Burma who won 90 percent of the cases he took, you would be very rare. Of the 10 percent of cases he lost, Ko Htun Hla refused to take them, and more than half of them were cases he took with great difficulty, even though he was reluctant to do so.
One of Ko Tun Hla's unique features is that he does not accept every case, but only accepts cases that he thinks he can win. At first, the case is small, but when he gets a reputation for winning everything, he is rejected because he wants to hire someone. Every time a case comes up, both the plaintiff and the defendant rush to hire him, and since he chooses the side he thinks will win, it is probably not surprising that he usually wins. In any case, it is true that Ko Tun Hla can wait at home without having to pay a "commission" (a fee) for people looking for a case. . It is true that Ko Tun Hla reached the peak of his business at the age of 40 and accumulated enough money to buy a large amount of farmland. However, despite his success, those around him still believe that Ko Tun Hla does not put in his best effort in his work. Because when Ko Tun Hla talks to his clients, This is because, whether in court or sometimes while speaking, one often sees a person lose interest in what they are saying or doing, and instead, their attention is drawn to something else.
At such times, he would become slurred and act like a man suddenly awakened from sleep. People who saw this behavior would accuse Ko Htun Hla of not being able to concentrate on his work. He would start thinking about whatever he wanted, and they would feel helpless . Because of this, there were cases that he did not hire and lost, and there were judges who were too impatient to scold him, but the judges eventually had to forgive him for his behavior.
While Ko Tun Hla was talking to me, his clear, bright, and especially keen eyes would shift from looking intently at me to looking behind me and into a very distant place, and I would (before I knew it) turn to look back. At such times, Ko Tun Hla seemed to be on the other side, to hear only half of what was being said, to hear only half of what was being said .
