Entrepreneurial child

One afternoon.

The place I am in is Lima, the capital of Peru.

While walking around Lima, I came across an alley. It was a slum, so the street was very dirty. There was trash everywhere. It was so messy.

Meanwhile....

"My dear brother, you will eat and drink only if you give it to me. Please give me food, even if it is small, as long as you have faith and ability..."

The sound of someone sitting on the side of the road begging for money. The sound of a boy begging for money in Spanish.

In Lima, as in other third world cities, young people are struggling to make ends meet. Many of these children and young people are orphans.

I turned to look in the direction of the sound. It was a boy asking for money. He looked to be about 10 or 11 years old. He had dark hair, a stubble on his nose, and was wearing a T-shirt and jeans. The T-shirt was dirty and tattered. The boy walked towards me. His wide eyes were wide, looking around.

"You're a handsome man. Even your face is plump and fat, right?"

I started talking while smiling.

“Yes, sir, I would have to say it’s thanks to tourists like you.”

“Wait. I want to eat good beef jerky, so I’m looking for a good shop. Is there a good shop around here?”

“Here, Amigo (friend), I know the best places to buy beef jerky in Lima.”

"Then show me around."

And so...

They came to a shop that sold minced beef. The shop was small. The benches and tables were rickety. The shop was small, but the minced beef was pretty good. The coffee was good too.

I am in Peru on a business trip. I work as an international economic development consultant. This job has taken me to many countries around the world. In every country I have been to, I have seen many children struggling to survive. I have given as much money and food as I can to every child I have met.

However...

The boy I met in Lima today is different from other children. He is unique. He is unique. Despite living a life of begging on the streets, a life full of dangers and struggles every day, his demeanor and his actions show that he is full of desires to succeed in life. He is a child who has the determination to move forward relentlessly in his life.

"Wait a minute. Besides... what's your name?"

"David... you"

The way the boy pronounced his name was so powerful.

Yes. David. That's the name of the man in the Bible who defeated the giant "Goliath" with a slingshot. He became a world-famous warrior who loved and protected his people and his country.

His train of thought had gone too far. He quickly shook those thoughts out of his head, braking hard....

"Oh... your name is David? David is a really masculine name. Oh... remember my name too... "Bruce"."

"So I'll just call you Seinyao... Bruisey."

"Señor" means 'Mr.' in Spanish.

David called me in his Spanish accent, so my name became Bruce, the "Bruce from life."

David was eating a plate of beef stew that had been brought out especially for him. When I looked back at him, his plate was already empty. This guy still hadn't finished eating. I ordered another plate for him. A look of satisfaction crossed his face.

“Here, David. I don't see it being a long-term job just because you're asking for free money without doing anything to make ends meet.

"People tend to lose interest in it later. So you should focus on something. So what do you plan to do? What kind of career do you want to base your life on? What kind of life do you want to have?"
