The King's family

1. Skara Devi

Skara Devi was the queen consort of King Mindon.

Skar Devi was born to King Thayarwaddy and Queen Mother Kyabing on 23 December 1813. She was also said to be an expert in the Pitaka and astrology. She was installed as Queen Mother on 27 March 1853 and died on 12 November 1876 at the age of 63. She had no children.

After the death of Queen Khaung Sakya Devi, at the urging of King U Kaung, the editor, Bo Wazira, published an article in the Yadanarbon Nay Pyi Taw newspaper. In his style and tradition, Bo Wazira wrote the article in a long line beginning with “Kap U Sa Maha Upadhyaya”. The article was titled Naw Yala Khin in the newspaper.

When King Mindon read the obituary in the newspaper while he was grieving the death of his wife, he was very pleased and awarded the editor, Bo Wazir, 100 peacock coins and silk, silk, and velvet books.

The news of Bo Wazir became a big deal because of the news article in the Nat Ywala newspaper. Then, the Queen Mother, who was already jealous of her husband's lack of respect, sent a courtier to the newspaper to tell him that the dead man was being written about in a very good way, and that he should also write about the living man from time to time. Thus, the following week, the Nay Pyi Taw newspaper published an article about the Queen Mother, entitled "Adibutha, Mul Kabar".

The Queen's funeral document can be found in the Bowajira book (pages 147-154) written and compiled by Master Maha Swe. For the sake of knowledge, I would like to present a brief summary of the funeral document, which was published in the Nay Pyi Taw newspaper, Yadanarbon.

The document "Nat Ywara" -

"From the beginning, the great leader, the eternal, the unbroken lineage, descended from the Adisbandhu."

It is composed in a simple manner. Then the lineage of the queen is described as: “Yadana Theinkha,

The king of the white elephant, the

The first city was established, the kingdom flourished, and the two great Buddhas, the King and the Dharma,

"Myitta, my love, my true nature..."

It is written.

Some historical information learned from the Nat Yola document:

1. The Queen was born in 1174 (1813 AD).

2. In 1209 (1847 AD), she married Prince Mindon.

3. In 1214 (1853 AD), King Mindon ascended the throne in Amarapura.

She received the title of Queen.

4. On the 5th day of the waning moon of Nayon in 1236 (4 June 1874), the Buddha anointed

The coronation ceremony was held on the 12th day of the waning moon (11 June 1874).

5. 64 years old, 1238, 12th day of the waning moon of Ta Saung Mone

(November 12, 1876) - They were lucky merchants.

Here, I would like to include the Nigon passage of the Nayavala inscription as it clearly illustrates the reality of the feudal era.

Five kinds of lotuses, abundant rain, and the great Kundala Lake.

The six empty chambers, the bees and the bumblebees, who eat and drink, are like the bees and the bumblebees, who have no place to worship, and the many people,

A large banyan tree, with many shelters, stands by the roadside, its branches are twisted and twisted,

The wind has fallen, the travelers who are accustomed to rest, are as if they are exhausted, their minds are sad,

Without hesitation, this is how it happened, truly, like a mountainside collapsing, weeping and mourning,

They are so cold -

That is.

Similarly, the news article called "The White Umbrella Report" was written and included in the newspaper through the Queen of the Middle Kingdom, Sinphyu Ma Shin -

"Adibhuta, the original world, the beginning, the great deity, the sun and the moon,

"The Sun-born"

The beginning is mentioned. However, when Master Maha Swe visited and interviewed Bo Wazira, Bo Wazira himself said that he only knew the beginning of this verse and did not remember the end.

The news in the Yadanarbon Nay Pyi Taw newspaper was written in poetic prose, in the style of the Yadanarbon era. However, while the Yadanarbon Nay Pyi Taw newspaper, owned by the Burmese royal government, was written in poetic prose, the Burmese newspapers published in Yangon under British rule in Lower Burma, reported news in prose.

2. Queen of the North

The name of the North Queen of King Mindon was Khin Thae. She was born in 1813 to U Tha Phyu, the governor of Kanaw, Myaung, and Wan Kataw, during the reign of King Bagyidaw. At the age of 13, she was appointed as the concubine of Queen Mae Nu in the palace. When King Mindon ascended the throne in 1853, she was given the title of North Queen and died of influenza on 3 May 1872.
