Rising Successes

If you continue on the path you are on, where will you be ten years from now?

Napoleon Hill

Set your route.

Most people don’t realize that big success is the result of small successes over a long period of time. Truly successful people are people who think long-term. They know that they have to learn new and better ways of doing things based on each success. Regularly reviewing your progress is an important part of goal setting. If a goal doesn’t have a timeline for its completion, it’s little more than a wish. Include short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals in your plan for life. Review and adjust your goals as circumstances dictate. Take note of the goals you’ve achieved. Set new, bigger goals for yourself as you progress. Take time to reflect to make sure you’re on the right track.

Action for success

Be intentional. Create a life plan with your one-, three-, five-, and seven-year goals. Shakespeare wrote that there are seven stages in a person’s life. By examining your life so far and analyzing which stages you have lived through, you can prepare for the next stage by setting goals. A person goes through a seven-year cycle every seven years.

It is also said that change happens. If you look back at the past seven years of your life, you may be able to predict where you want to be when you begin your next phase of development.

Rising success

Don't be afraid to aim high when choosing your life goals. No matter how high you aim, your achievements will likely fall below that goal.

Start your journey towards your horizon.

Today, most companies promote “continuous improvement” as part of their quality improvement programs. In today’s global economy, they understand that to keep up with the times, they must constantly strive to improve in all aspects of their business, or they will be overtaken by their competitors. This ethos should apply to each individual. Life is a constant learning experience. Every success, every temporary setback, is an opportunity to prepare you for the time when you will gradually achieve success. Your short- and medium-term goals should be realistic and achievable. However, your long-term goals should be far beyond your current capabilities. “Fortune favors the brave,” as the Roman poet Virgil said.

Action for success

Why not direct your thoughts towards continuous self-improvement? Take a look at yourself physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially and prepare a plan for self-improvement in each area. When choosing your goals, you may want to take some notes to better understand the path you want to take. Try something new in each area. This is the beginning of true personal growth.
