Dream
The dream began to come true almost a year and a half ago. The person who brought the dream was Thein Zaw (Mandalay) actor. He started talking about wanting to make a video film with me. We came every other day and talked about one story after another.
There were times when I didn't like it, and there were times when he didn't like it, and it didn't really work out. At that time, I had only made one video film, "Ukka".
Then he and I decided to make a video film based on a novel we both liked.
The story of the novel is Moe Nya Maw Mu by U Myint Pho Naing. I think the script was written around March 1990. Because the script, which contains a story about heavy rain, was written in the middle of summer, with no shirt on. I think it was because it was too hot while writing.
In the script, it's raining heavily. When shooting, it's true that you'll definitely need a fire truck or a municipal water truck. I also put four water jugs on the list of things to buy in advance.
In any case, the dreams of the summer afternoons and evenings did not come true. It lasted for months and years. It was impossible to shoot in Thanlyin, it was impossible to shoot in Pyin Oo Lwin, it was impossible to shoot in Yangon. The actresses were not the ones originally intended.
At a time when they were newly awakened, I entered the dream significantly. That day was July 23, 1991, a rainy night. At 9:30 pm, I took the special express train to Shwe Mandalay where Nwe, Maung Thit, Dr. Ma Thet Yi, and Maung Nyo Mhoing were.
It would be funny if you heard it. The next day, the special mail train, which was supposed to arrive at Mandalay Station at about 12 noon, arrived at its destination at 13:00. I spent thirteen or fourteen hours trying to remember the girl named Pollyanna.
He jokingly told the people who were waiting for him that the twenty-six-hour train ride was really worth it.
Just like when we were writing the script, when we started filming, it was the rainy season, and despite the rain in Mandalay, the sun was shining brightly, and the rain was pouring down, Thein Zaw, May Swee, and May Than Nu all dreamed of a dream of a rainy day.
In the first dream, I met a liar. The liar appeared with a fire truck. Four water jugs. The scene was filmed when Dr. Ma Thet Yi (May Swee) arrived in Paungthi on a rainy day after falsely creating Mandalay as Paungthi.
The sun was shining in the background, and the fire hose was spraying water. As the raindrops fell, a car drove by to meet Dr. Ma Thet Yi.
To film conversations inside the car, you can't use a fire hose. Since the cameras might get wet, you can fake the conversations by parking the car under a tree, climbing on top of the tree, and pouring water from a watering can on the car as you drive.
However, the stillness of the trees and leaves casting shadows on the windshield is proof that the car is parked, so a black blanket is spread out to block the shadows of the leaves.
While the filming of that conversation was being completed, the car was being moved, the water was being poured, and our beloved movie world was still reeling from the fire and the car was being driven away, a big liar had a funny dream.
| I don't know what kind of idea the teacher had for writing the poem. As the one who was to depict his character, I had already written down an idea of what the bridge that Maung Nyo Hmoing was afraid of should look like, so I was quite confused when I found the bridge from my imagination. Photographers Nyaung Oo Than Htay and Nyi Win Myint also pointed out places where there might be bridges, so I drove south to Yankin to find a bridge. It might be raining heavily in Yangon, but in Shwe Mandalay the sun was shining brightly and the dust was already falling.
I thought it was because I had to look for a bridge to build in the rain in the dusty forest. I didn't find one I liked. There were various types of bridges: small bridges, narrow bridges, old bridges, and curved bridges, but I couldn't come up with a bridge from my imagination. My mood was starting to get depressed.
However, unexpectedly, I saw the dream bridge that led to the Aung Bayan on the side of the new town. The bridge was slightly curved, slightly long, and the stream flowing below was calm. However , after the seven-voiced shout, "May Si, here we come," all the villagers from the village came out slowly, crowding around the girl named May Si, looking at her. The hardships of being a prince and princess were not small. It was difficult to keep a small smile under the many eyes.
I also want it to rain on the bridge. I want Dr. Ma Thet Yi and others to go to the bridge where the rain is pouring. I also want Maung Nyo Mong to fall asleep in the flowing stream.
Therefore, he ordered the water jugs that were in the hands of Medhuta to be returned.
The car that brought the water jugs back had not yet arrived at the house where they were staying. The set was already packed with people. The bridge was so crowded that some of the railings were peeling off.
The night was slowly getting darker. The audience was not diminishing. They were staring at Ma Swee. In the middle of the crowd, Ma Swee couldn't help but smile. Her eyes were wide open.
“Now, now, let’s go and clean up, I can’t. There are too many people.”
I shouted again.
Everyone is preparing to return.
Later, he whispered to his disciple Kyaw Phoe Cho, "Everyone, hide yourselves. We'll come back in an hour to beat you."
An hour later, Ma Thet Yi and her group boarded the bridge and secretly filmed the scene where they were searching for Maung Nyo Mhoing.
What if the villagers suddenly found out while we were filming and thought, "We're just a bunch of movie-makers, so we're just going to go crazy and come and cheer us on with sticks and knives?"
I don't know how others must feel.
That night, I had a vivid dream of a deserted place somewhere on the ocean.
