Jaundice
I have been admitted to the Liver Disease Department of Yangon General Hospital for treatment five times, up until the last day (24-3-99). I have already written about how I am being treated for liver cancer in the May 1999 issue of Jivaka magazine.
(5.5-99) At around 11:00 am, I went to meet Professor U Khin Maung Win, a hepatologist at the Department of Liver Diseases, at the teacher's office. This time, I met with the teacher not to receive treatment for my disease, but to carry out a literary work that would help the teacher explain and explain to readers about liver disease.
As soon as I entered the teacher's office, he greeted me as usual, "U Kyaw Sein... how are you?" and I could see his usual smile.
“I am well... Master, I have come to you now because I want to help you with the work of bridging the gap between what readers need to know about liver disease. I need to write an interview with you for Jivaka Magazine. Master has come to ask you to share your personal experiences with liver disease.”
“Okay... What do you want to know, U Kyaw Sein?”
- First, tell me about hepatitis, sir.
The word jaundice is the second largest epidemic in the world in Mandalay in 1976. It killed more than 40,000 people. The word jaundice came from Shwe Mann. In English, it is called Jaundice. "Viral Hepatitis" Viral is called Hepatitis, a disease caused by a virus.
- Yes, sir. Let me know the symptoms.
Hepatitis is yellowing of the eyes and urine. Hepatitis is caused by a virus.
Not to mention the disease, everyone understands hepatitis. Hepatitis is now a multi-organ disease. Previously, there were only two types, A and B. Now, according to the latest findings, hepatitis has been divided into A, B, C, D, E, F and G. Type F is not yet accepted by world scientists.
-How can the disease be transmitted, teacher?
A, E and F are transmitted through food and water. B, C, D, G are transmitted through blood transfusions, injections, skin piercings such as tattoos, ear piercings, and sexual contact.
I want to talk about.
- Yes, sir.
First, you will have a slight fever. It will be slow. You will not want to eat at all. You will not be able to stand the smoke of a smoker. You will feel nausea, vomiting, and mainly, your urine will be dark brown. After 4/5 days, the fever will subside and your skin and eyes will turn yellow... So everyone knows. .
- When is it common?
It has its season. The beginning of the rainy season, and then again in October and November, during these two times, the incidence of hepatitis is high in Myanmar. Because it is transmitted through flies and food. At such times, a patient feels dizzy, pale, tired, nauseous, vomiting, and does not want to eat. If the urine is dark, then pay attention. That is hepatitis. Then everyone knows that the eyes turn yellow.
- Are there any diseases that can be missed?
Yes. Even doctors can get it wrong. Right-sided pain, virus (virus)
Like hepatitis caused by viruses, Amoebic Hepatitis can also be caused by amoeba. It is different from Amoebic Hepatitis. Amoebic Hepatitis does not have symptoms such as loss of appetite, nausea, or vomiting. Amoebic Hepatitis causes pain on the right side. It is accompanied by fever, persistent fever, yellowing of the eyes, and frequent urination. Urine is also yellow. Treatment is different.
- If you have any experience, please let me know.
I will tell you about an experience I had about a year ago. The woman is a teacher. The man is a doctor. He treated his wife. He mistook Viral Hepatitis for Amoebic Hepatitis and gave her Metronidazole. Metronidazole is strong. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. When I mistakenly treated Viral Hepatitis for Amoebic Hepatitis, the patient recovered... and started to faint. After 4/5 days, I realized that I was wrong when my eyes turned yellow. If you have pain on the right side before your eyes turn yellow, don't treat Amoebic Hepatitis. I gave you Metronidazole. I gave you Emetine injection. That medicine is also strong. From my practical experience, I am telling you about possible mistakes.
- Please tell me about the treatment, sir.
I'll tell you about the treatment. I've said it a lot at medical conferences. Once you have hepatitis, you start fighting it... water. Drink (6) bottles of water. Nausea and vomiting.
Drink up to. All the patients asked the patient to drink more water, the doctor also gave him a drip, and asked him to drink water. This is wrong. When you have hepatitis, you feel nauseous, nauseous, and want to vomit. Think about your body. Even we can't drink 2 bottles of water a day. So if you insist on drinking water, you will feel nauseous and vomit. What I mean is that if you have hepatitis, zampons Fluid Intake m should be enough. It should be adequate. It is not Excessive Fluid Intake. You should not give too much water. What can happen if you give too much? If you have a disease, you don't want to vomit. If you vomit, a small blood vessel at the bottom of the esophagus will burst and you will lose consciousness. You don't want that at all. You don't want it to happen. So drink as much water as you can. Don't try to drink too much water.
Stop the habit of telling people to drink. It's wrong. If you drink too much water, your feet will swell and become dehydrated.
- Please continue telling me about the treatment, Master.
The patient will come, the doctor will mix two packets of glucose and drink it. This is also like water, you have to give adequate calories and energy. You should not give excessive. I will tell you an experience. A woman from North Okkalapa, the doctor gave her glucose injections and told her to drink glucose, and she became diabetic and came unconscious. She had no diabetes before. She drank until she developed diabetes. That is also wrong. If she can eat a lot, she does not need to give glucose. She is very nauseous. If she vomits, she will give her a little glucose.
- Tell me more about the treatment, sir.
There are many liver tonics in Myanmar that are made in Japan and Germany. These are absolutely unnecessary. I have not used them since I just returned from abroad. Since I started working, my professor Daw Myint Myint Khin has never accepted any medicine unless it is specified in the book. That is an ingrained habit. That is why some medical representatives and doctors misunderstand me. When doctors come to me, they say that my doctor does not have liver tonics. If it is in the current medical books, I will use it. Anyone should be able to accept my treatment. Even a foreigner who comes to me should be given this medicine. A Myanmar patient should also be given the same medicine. Anyone can accept the treatment. I always ask. Is it in the medical school exam? Can it be included in the exam?
- Liver stimulants should not be used unless necessary.
Every time a doctor prescribes unnecessary medication, it costs the patient money. The doctor prescribes it.
If the patient buys it in a hurry, then it will be a waste of money for the patient. Therefore, liver tonics that cure jaundice are not recommended.
There is no such thing.
