Chapter (1)

Sandi Dixit

The foundation of success

(First step to growth)

The fundamental basis of success in worldly affairs and in the worldly realm is a strong desire. From worldly wealth to the attainment of the path and the fruition, strong desire is the basis. Not only the path and the fruition, but also the attainment of the golden wisdom of omniscience can be achieved only on the basis of strong desire and through the practice of perfection, one can attain Buddhahood. How could a person with strong desire not achieve such a simple prosperity and happiness?

In saying this, there is no one who does not desire prosperity, but why do many people not prosper and prosper? We mean that the desire for prosperity cannot be called a strong desire, but only a kind of mind that can be shaken in the heart that it will not prosper and prosper in this life. The emergence of such a strong desire becomes a great power factor. Therefore, the Buddha spoke on the basis of the four factors, the four principal factors, the concept of desire. If it is based on strong desire, the remaining three power factors, the three principal factors, will automatically follow. When strong desire arises, enthusiasm, diligence and perseverance, and various creative arrangements as much as one has the ability to do so, will automatically follow. If desire, the locomotive engine, is set in motion, the rest of the concepts follow behind like a train of carriages.

Therefore, whether it is worldly prosperity or the path, the path to happiness, the bliss of Nibbana, it is very important to desire it with a strong desire. It cannot be achieved by simply saying that you want it and becoming a lustful person. Therefore, whether you want worldly prosperity or Nibbana, the first thing you need to do is to cultivate the mind of lust, which is to express it in various ways so that it becomes a strong desire. If you want anything with a strong desire, you will not be able to get it. As soon as a strong desire arises, we say that you have reached half the journey.

The Buddha desired the golden wisdom of omniscience with great desire and prayed to it during the reign of Dipinkara Buddha. After that, he was able to fulfill his desire and finally attained Buddhahood. Even such a difficult thing can be achieved with the underlying power of desire. How can a person who desires the fruit of the path, Nibbana, and prosperity in the world not be able to achieve it?

The power of willpower can be illustrated by an incident in history. A general once had a strong desire to attack and destroy an enemy army on the other side of a river. He knew that the enemy army was much stronger than his own. However, he was confident that if his soldiers had the same strong desire to win, they would surely win. So the general took his soldiers on boats and when they reached the other side, he burned all the boats and said to his soldiers, “My people, there is only one way to live. We must win this battle before we can return. If we are defeated, we will all have to die, because there is no way to escape. If you do not want to die, fight and win.”

The soldiers realized that if we cannot win, we will die. What if we fight to the end, they fought with great determination, but they had already defeated an enemy army that was much more powerful than theirs. This is the power of the will.

Anyone who wants to succeed in any matter must act as if they were setting the boat on fire so that they cannot retreat. Those who act with a negative attitude and a mind that is always on the move are more likely to retreat. In the pursuit of wealth, they will not be able to obtain the wealth they desire. If they have a mind that is not to be had, they must make up their mind on how they will obtain it, and if they act with determination and perseverance according to that mind, their desires will certainly be fulfilled.

In order to obtain the necessary wealth in the search for wealth, the following methods must be followed.

(1) You must have a precise estimate of the amount of money you need. It is not enough to simply guess that you need a lot of money. You must have a precise estimate of how much you need. It will be explained in the next chapter that there is a reason for having a precise estimate of the amount.

(2) You must also decide exactly how much effort you are willing to put in to get that money. There is nothing in this world that can be obtained for nothing without giving something.

(3) The estimated amount of money should be determined with a specific date. (4) Once you have made a plan on how you will get the money, you should immediately start working on that plan without delay.

(5) The date on which the desired amount of money is to be received, the sacrifices one is willing to make to obtain that amount, and the plans one will take to achieve it, etc., must be clearly written on a piece of paper.

(6) You should read the paper aloud once when you wake up in the morning and once when you go to bed. While reading it, you should visualize the money in your mind as if it were already in your hands.

It is very important to follow the above six methods carefully. It is especially important to follow number (6) precisely and without fail. It is difficult to imagine that money has arrived in your hands when it has not yet arrived. However, for someone who wants it with such a strong desire that he cannot get it, it is not difficult to imagine it in such a way. For someone who has such a strong desire that he can concentrate on nothing else but getting the money, it is not difficult to imagine that it has arrived even before it arrives.

For those who do not understand the four elements, the four elements of

It is not very difficult to follow the above six methods. It is not necessary to have any education in school. It is important to have the kind of intelligence that understands that wealth is a matter of luck and that it cannot be achieved by relying solely on luck. Apart from inheritance and winning the lottery, the rich and wealthy who have accumulated wealth of lakhs, millions, and crores by themselves
