Burmese English
Today, with high expectations, the need for young Burmese to learn English, especially to speak it, is expressed in the tone of Zawgyi, “You know, I know, everyone knows.” The world and Myanmar are interacting like a house and a floor, and the number of foreigners who will come to Myanmar and the number of Burmese people who will go abroad is also increasing. So, for those who want to pursue various modern businesses and growth, those who want to work in various companies that involve foreigners, and those who want to go abroad for various reasons, it is especially necessary to learn English.
From these, I further classified and thought about what topics the Burmese people need to know the most when speaking English, and the answer came out to be Burmese. Yes, when talking to foreigners, tourists, and Burmese people, what they want to know the most is Burmese. They will ask their Burmese about Burmese culture, beliefs, customs, food, clothing, weather, etc.
I read an article in a magazine. A man was very interested in Western affairs, especially American affairs, and he had studied them very carefully. When he met two Americans, he seemed to want to brag about how much he knew about America. He talked about America for a long time. The two Americans listened to him with a smile, and when he finished, he said, "Why are you telling us all this? We already know. What we want to know is about your country. Tell us about it." He was shocked and learned a lesson.
After reading that article, I agreed. What should I do if I go and talk to foreigners about their countries? They will be interested only if I tell them about the various Burmese things they want to know. So, for foreigners and those who want to communicate, it is important to remember that the first thing they need to learn is the various Burmese things.
Myanmar is easy to say. It is not easy to speak it accurately and correctly. For example, when talking about Buddha , we need to know and use words like မြန်းမ I will present the necessary English expressions and sentences. I do not take this small task with the feeling that I am already great or skilled. Although I have earned my living teaching English all my life, I will also say that I am just a student forever, and I will help and teach the younger students as much as I can. Today, there are not many people who carry out this responsibility, so I am trying my best to fill a pressing need of the times. Before I end, I would like to reiterate that if you want to speak English well with foreigners, you should search for and collect various Myanmar books and articles and read them. Here we go. I will start with the Shwedagon Pagoda, which is the most sacred place in Myanmar.
