There is a saying that goes, "When you eat well, you remember your friends." This means that if you have the best food in town, the most delicious food, or the most unique food, you remember your loved ones, friends, and loved ones to share it with. You want them to eat it too.
Yes. When people travel from one place to another or go to a party, they often buy a small portion of the best food they can eat or taste for their family members. Men who buy fried noodles, fried rice, fried vermicelli, etc. from the convenience store and many other places in Myanmar, and women who return from the market, buy noodle soup, rice noodles, fried tofu, etc. for their husbands and children, is also part of this tradition.
There is a famous story that once, the Chinese leader Ding Xiaoping was on a government trip to the United States and had to temporarily stop in Paris, France. At that time, he wanted to eat the French food he had eaten when he was young (Crossants). So he bought some and found them very delicious. Then he remembered the Chinese soldiers who had lived with him in France at that time. He wanted them to eat them too. So Ding Xiaoping spent all his money on these (Crossants) instead of buying anything else. When he returned to Beijing, he distributed them to his friends and comrades. The comrades also made a batch of these foods and ate them together. In this way, the elderly in their eighties became young again, happy, and contented.
The author has also been fortunate enough to have been to many countries in the world. When he arrived, he tried and tasted the food of that country. If it was good, he sent it back home. When he returned, he brought it back. For example, butter and cheese from England. Tuna from the United States, sardines from Portugal and Japan, Peking duck and canned mussels from China, ginseng from Korea. Butter and beef from Australia. The funny thing is that it was good... A set of spices from India and Bismati Rice from Pakistan, as well as various pickles, jams and oils. Whiskey, wine, trendy, cowboy beer, beer, champagne, etc.
In fact, I brought them here not out of pride, but out of a desire to share foreign and unusual foods with my loved ones. Therefore, whenever the author returns from abroad, there is a dinner party and reception at the author's house.
When I don't have to go abroad, I don't have to worry. The writer often invites friends and family to his house for meals. Especially on special days like Union Day and Revolution Day. On Union Days, his wife tirelessly makes and serves Shan rice soup, and everyone who comes to eat it asks her to make it again.
The author knows whether he likes good food or not. The students also bring Chinese food for Chinese New Year, Muslim food for Easter, and Christmas food for Christmas. Some invite them to their homes. During Thingyan, the students from Mawlamyine come to eat Thingyan rice with six thousand shrimps and curry.
The author has a few foreign friends, so I have had the chance to eat at their embassy receptions and at their home-cooked meals. Thus, I have eaten, drunk, and tasted English food, American food, French food, Austrian food, and Russian cuisine, fish eggs, Russian wine, etc.
This experience of eating and tasting various foods is very useful when you are short of time and bored. Because you can remember them and cook and eat them at home. In addition, the prices of food in hotels and restaurants are now so cheap that you can cook and eat at home when you want to feed your friends.
The author is not only passionate about food, but also has a special passion for cooking. When he was 13 years old, after his parents divorced, he had to start a boarding school in a remote village and study there. The author himself had to write the menu for the boarding school. Later, when he studied at Yangon University, Mandalay Medical College and Yangon Medical College, the author also took charge of the food in the dormitories where he lived. He not only planned the names of the dishes, but also bought the food himself. At that time, there were fellowship and reading clubs in the dormitories, and the author took charge of the food, the secretary, and the responsibility of organizing the annual dinner.
After graduating from Rangoon College as a medical doctor, he served in the military as a military doctor, and was responsible for the food service at the officers' quarters. Later, when he served in the field medical battalion and mobile medical teams, he was also responsible for the food of his comrades and patients.
Then, while serving as the dormitory manager at the National University of Medicine 2 and various other responsibilities at the Myanmar Medical Association, I also took on the responsibility of food and beverage. I have also been responsible for the catering for the graduation dinner of the University of Medicine 2 and the annual conference dinner of the Medical Association. While abroad, I cooked for myself, ate at restaurants, hotels, and fast food chains. Now, I will mention a few things that I can’t resist. Fish and chips from England, McDonald’s hamburgers from America, Cornelius’ fried chicken, pizza, etc.
In fact, eating and drinking is a job that every living creature has to do. However, cooking, frying, and eating are the jobs of humans. The higher the cultural level of people who do this, the more unique and delicious their food becomes. It is called sophisticated.
Even the pots, pans, forks, and three knives were missing.
It is a sign of politeness to offer food to good guests. Nowadays, when meeting international leaders, it is not uncommon to offer a buffet. If there is time, it is a dinner. If there is not time, it is a break east or lunch. Businessmen are pressed for time, so they eat lunch while working. Thus, the term ' working lunch ' was born. There are people who pack their own food in brown paper bags to eat quickly and go to school or university conferences. Their lunch is called "brown bag lunch".
The author has eaten from street vendors to big hotels, from the Queen's dinner, the ambassador's dinner to fast food on cars and trains. He has studied and recorded everything he has eaten and how to cook the food he wants to eat. Since he kept this wealth of knowledge to himself and was not very useful, he has written it down in a book so that everyone can study, memorize and cook it. May everyone be happy, healthy, nutritious, delicious and happy, and may everyone be able to eat to their heart's content.
